Unconditionally sold more than 2 million copies WW and peaked at #14 on US Top 100

it's not a hit, but certainly not a flop

Oh, I have nothing against Katy and this single in particular, and I think "flop" is really overused nowadays, so you preach to the converted. But I find it funny how Katy's label justifies Brithday's sales - and I'm only remembering that Unconditionally broke a chain of 9 consective top 3 singles for a #14 spot.... in comparison, Birthday peaked at #17, so in Katy Perry standards, you can say both singles were disappointments. I was just wondering what her label would have to say to justify what happened with Unconditionally :)

You know, in a business when you get people used to #1s, the second you miss the spot, you're last. As Gaga fans, we've seen it happen more than once...

BTW sold 2 million the first week. After, it's well known, the album had a down from 83%. The second week it sold around 400,000 copies WW. So according to your thought, if BTW really sold 8 million, that means that from the third week until the end of 2011 it would had sold an average of 200,000 copies per week which is simply IMPOSSIBLE.

There were better single options like Walking on Air, Legendary Lovers, Ghost or It Takes Two, but I like TIHWD too.

Remember when Gaga released a single every two months with BTW ? Yeah, me too

Yeah she stopped at 5 though.

This is only the fifth single. It's a pretty normal amount. And as long as her singles keep doing well, her label is obviously going to want to release more.

It's a normal amount so far but the record company is considering releasing at least two more. I grew up in the 90s when 4 singles was the norm and albums would sell ****loads, almost nobody used to be so desperate at the time.

Some of the highest-selling albums of all time had a lot of singles. Michael's Thriller had 7. Shania Twain's Come on Over had 12. I like when artists release a lot of singles, personally. I like music videos and performances.

Lion Heart

I'm expecting it to do similar to "Birthday."
