Joaco95 1,631
I kind of think she should pay anyway. Most other artists pay for their samples. The entire situation could've been avoided if they did that. And probably for less money as well. It isn't tasteless, moneygrubbing, or stupid, it is just how things are done in the music business. Also, just judging by the lyrics, the song isn't that great, and kind of makes a fool of a tragic event, which kind of makes me want her to pay them MORE. The audio doesn't have copyright tho. Seeka 12,372
The audio doesn't have copyright tho. It is at least a smart thing to do, especially if the song isn't that great. Though I am sure those types of things aren't in the public domain. I am sure there are rules and laws that revolve around the use of nonmusic pieces in musical pieces. MahoganySnitch 67
I am one of those who found it insensitive but this feels unnecessary. Although i do wonder how including an audio clip like that works legally.

We have TV specials about 9/11, movies using this type of audio and etc. Why should Beyoncé give some money when she's not the only one that did this before? Bc comparing a shuttle explosion to relationships is in bad taste imo. And these tv specials usually involve input from those who were there and suffered. And some don't. Smooth Criminal 2
Gender Equality Is a Myth! 01.12.2014 By Beyoncé Knowles-Carter We need to stop buying into the myth about gender equality. It isn’t a reality yet. Today, women make up half of the U.S. workforce, but the average working woman earns only 77 percent of what the average working man makes. But unless women and men both say this is unacceptable, things will not change. Men have to demand that their wives, daughters, mothers, and sisters earn moreâ€â€commensurate with their qualifications and not their gender. Equality will be achieved when men and women are granted equal pay and equal respect. Humanity requires both men and women, and we are equally important and need one another. So why are we viewed as less than equal? These old attitudes are drilled into us from the very beginning. We have to teach our boys the rules of equality and respect, so that as they grow up, gender equality becomes a natural way of life. And we have to teach our girls that they can reach as high as humanly possible. We have a lot of work to do, but we can get there if we work together. Women are more than 50 percent of the population and more than 50 percent of voters. We must demand that we all receive 100 percent of the opportunities. The essay isn't the most cogent or eloquent piece of writing. I do, however, applaud Bey for using her voice to stand up for what she believes in, it is pretty commendable. http://shriverreport.org/gender-equality-is-a-myth-beyonce/
