Pop star takes expresses ‘disgust’ for a public space protection order in London that aims to crack down on rough sleeping

Singer Ellie Goulding has challenged British councils for their treatment of the homeless, expressing her “disgust” at a public space protection order (PSPO) that aims to crack down on rough sleeping in the London borough of Hackney. Under the PSPO, rough sleepers in some areas of Hackney could face a £100 fixed penalty or be taken to court and fined up to £1,000.

Councils should help rough sleepers, not fine them

Goulding posted a series of tweets saying she was “deeply concerned about how out of touch people can be”, and added: “Some councils in England have decided to treat homeless people as though they are criminals and are going to start fining them.”

Goulding urged her 4.8 million followers to sign an online petition to “stop criminalising Hackney’s rough sleepers”.

Actually I don't really think she grew up rich. But she wasn't poor. She actually like grew up in a small town in the UK with just her mom. Her dad wasn't around, but I think they werent too bad on money. She was able to go to college.

hop on that **** like a maniac

Elena Jane Goulding was born in Hereford and raised in Lyonshall, a small village near Kington, Herefordshire, the second of four children

Her mother, Tracey (née Clark), used to work at a supermarket, and her father, Arthur Goulding, came from a "family of undertakers".

At age five, her parents separated, and she had a stepfather who was a lorry driver.

After commencing drama, politics and English courses at the University of Kent,  where she was exposed to electronic music, she made her sound on the track "Wish I Stayed" with the help of Starsmith and Frankmusik. After two years at Kent, she was spotted by Jamie Lillywhite of Turn First Artists at a university talent contest. After Goulding successfully showcased for Turn First Artists head Sarah Stennett, she was told to leave university and was set up in a house in West London.

So I guess she was poor too

I love that she's so passionate about helping the homeless, and is taking a no-holds-barred stance. :applause:It's really awful that some people seem to think that fining vulnerable people, and making them even more vulnerable, is a good idea. What kind of ignorance :wtf:
