Guest ARTPOPSlays
I just watched the last Paris artRAVE because I was in the mood for ARTPOP today and wanted to RAVE. People say ARTPOP flopped but they are wrong which I've known for a long time. Gaga did her best. Just because ARTPOP didn't sell as much copies as BTW or The Fame, it still has potential, and soul. It still sold so many copies. So many people took advantage of her, and expected her to outdo herself, but she doesn't have to do that. Just because it didn't sell as many copies as previous records and she didn't promote it as much people used that an excuse to act as though the music was bad (which is an opinion obviously) and that they shouldn't buy it or even give it a listen. At the end of the day it's about the music not charts and not the bling. I know that many of you know this stuff but I wanted to share my opinion on this topic. This made me realize that my username also has a deeper meaning MUSIC NOT THE BLING MONSTER STOP THE DRAMA START THE MUSIC Love you Monsters!! Curunir 7,510
for me ARTPOP is pure slayage and i don't give a f*ck what people say or think. neither should anyone. it's even worse when people's opinions of it are affected by the ones of others if the music is good then that's all that matters. and the music is superb on a side note, is that photo from the last artrave? god that show was so emotional still can't believe i got to see it live
mariomania1234 11,368
ARTPOP is a great album. It's sad that the mismanagement of the era taints some people's perception of it.

LoveandMagic 1,731
I really enjoyed ARTPOP. Wish I could have gone to artRAVE, it looked like a blast! Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

ARTPOPdidntflop 3,987
I think the fact that she struggled so much during this era and the whole world watched her crumble and get back up, makes this era iconic in its own right. Arguably just as iconic as born this way. But not in the sense that iconic is a good thing, just that it was definitely a staple in her career that helped us become closer to her and its defined a big part of her that we haven't fully realised yet Gaga x Nicki x Azealia x Ariana x Kesha x Bey
lxdygxga 3,353
I really do love ARTPOP - I love that record, I feel like it's 'my record', the one that I'll be able to say I truly lived through, and know like the back of my hand. Especially seeing it at the artRAVE - a magical experience that I've never had at any other concert. Just the connection was there - she survived so much backlash and abuse, and she stood by this wonderful record. Some might say it isn't her best, other's may disagree, but for me, it is my favorite of all of her albums, and I've been here since The Fame. I just find such a sense of freedom and fun about it - it doesn't take itself too seriously, but the fact everyone takes it much too seriously is the issue at hand, I always feel.In fact, I perhaps love it even more because it didn't do so well - much like Erotica, my favorite album from Madonna, it's much easier to find what you like in an album that isn't caught up in huge figures and certifications and acclaim and awards. I feel that we subconsciously can run away with ourselves with albums that are huge in terms of status and esteem them to some legendary Olympus status just because they did well. Many people have labelled ARTPOP as many things, but the joy that I feel listening to it renders everything else insignificant. I don't find it soulless at all - I think it is wonderful fun, and there is much more beneath the surface of some great EDM music. It really is a canvas of her insecurities - Aura about wanting us to see past the image of "Lady Gaga", G.U.Y. with her insecurities of submission, Sexxx Dreams is self explanatory, Mary Jane Holland and Dope regarding her d--g use, Swine about her past - there is a lot going on - it's her most frank piece of work, in my opinion, but the surrounding "flop" claims, mean that it's undervalued. Of course there is some silliness in Donatella and Venus and such - but it's not meant to be solving world issues. As I've said before, in 50 years when we look back on our lives, we're not going to think "Oh I'm so happy that peaked at #1", we're going to think about the music and how it made us feel and how we enjoyed it. And I've enjoyed no Gaga album more than ARTPOP.
