I don't think next to anything can make an impact quite like either of those videos again because we're living in a post-modern-post-modern society. I think people are hard pressed to allow any one video or one artist to get that much credit. Cynicism is king. That being said, it already made an impact that was at least nearly as valid and wide. Will anyone care in 10+years? Who knows. But I think its just as delusional for you to strip her of having a legacy thats as valid as Madonnas, obviously not in the same way but nevertheless. But I mean you're Jjang, you tend to have a bias opinion of Lady Gaga in regards to Madonna.

But here is where I have to stop you.

Vogue shed a light on and brought to the mainstream an entire piece of dance culture & a genre that are still being used religiously.

Thriller was not only an exceptional merge of visuals but brought music videos into a new era.

Now lets assume Bad Romance indeed does "leave a legacy", what would it specifically be and how would it match in size?

I own a realistic opinion of Gaga, not a biased one.

Thriller is, and always will be, in a league of its own!

Bad Romance comes second!

Bad Romance was also an exceptional merge of visuals that brought music videos into a new era. Lady Gaga came on the scene and everyone else stepped their game up. She made pop music and being a pop star something cool again, something to pay attention to and acknowledge as more than just consumerist fodder. Her phenomenon ushered in a new era of pop female domination. Am I saying Bad Romance is Vogue or Thriller? no I didn't, but I think these days it got as close to that status as it could have. The problem is, people are far too cynical about her to acknowledge that. Your opinion of Lady Gaga isn't as realistic as you always so arrogantly declare and im 100% sure you're aware of that. You tend to have an overtly cynical point of view of her and you make a point to debunk any notion that she is of any sort of importance in pop music or that shes to any degree substantial.

I think Marry the Night was terrible. I don't think the song matched the video, I thought it was awkwardly timed and edited, and I thought the acting was especially cringeworthy.

As for Bad Romance being "basic", I think Bad Romance is definitely one of her most accessible songs along with Poker Face and Just Dance but I abhor the thought of it being labeled basic. Its not exactly substantial as far as music goes but its a near perfect pop song. Idk I just completely disagree with you.

NOO haha Bad Romance is far from basic, the lyrics and the mixture of music is very good it's just one of those songs that along Just Dance and Poker Face already get me tired, maybe cause Gaga has been spoiling us with such great music and keeps topping herself. Marry The Night is just one of my favorite videos because it's got a lot of meaning and it's one of her most artistic.

Actually now that I think of it.... Paparazzi video is truly Gaga's best.

Shes made plenty of music that I like a lot. I don't think shes yet to release a pop single as effective that tops Bad Romance though. Thats just my opinion.

in terms of impact

thriller>vogue>like a prayer>bomt>bad romance

video wise for me

bad romance>thriller>lap>vogue

can the edgy "overrated" comments about all of those videos go away?

I think it is much better, It is basically the evolution of those Music videos.

You take something great and evolve it to something even more mind blowing which is BR music video and only someone as artistic and talented like Gaga could have done that.

Bad Romance is one of the most iconic and legendary (if not the only) music videos not only in the pop music industry, but also across all musical genres of this generation as well. It left a great mark on the artistic visualization in the music industry. However, only the time will tell whether it will be remembered and respected as Vogue and Thriller are still to this day a decade from now on. It definitely has the potential, IMO, but we just have to wait and see. :legend::gaga:

to be honest, no. its a bit cheap looking in certain times/looks. the praises it gets is a bit much considering people will bash the applause video for being cheap when its actually one of her best....

It already is on their level. But let us be really honest, these videos are famous because of the songs. Quality-wise I think Applause is better. So I'm pretty popularity = everything.

Thriller is so overrated. Maybe one of the worst music videos of the 80s. Michael Jackson is overrated

Vogue and Bad Romance was one of the best ever videos

I still don't get what's so great about Vogue. I think it's boring.

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.
