Paco 3,040
i was OBVIOUSLY being sarcastic people were criticizing katy for using this and they were saying that as a professional singer she shouldnt forget lyrics everyone can forget lyrics and this is there to help them well it's different Someone who is 88 has more chance to forget lyrics he didnt even write in the first place, When you're 33 and need a teleprompter for songs you're supposed to have written, well
Haroon 49,685
The difference is they are singing covers of songs. Songs they didn't write, songs they may forget the lyrics to. Katy on the other hand, supposedly "wrote" the songs, so why would she need a TelePrompTer if she should have the lyrics memorized by heart. Because anyone can slip up on lyrics regardless of how much they've practiced Gaga's slipped up in the past, loads of other artists have slipped up in the past too. I don't think an artist should be shamed for using a teleprompter because they're using it to prevent from slipping up, like how is not wanting to slip up on lyrics a bad thing to do? Jjang 2,262
When Gaga sings Speechless, You & I or Dope and you notice big-ass teleprompter in front of her, then you can come back. Oh, so its all about comparing her to Gaga for you. I see how your mind works. Great mentality.
Yanko 9,860
well it's different Someone who is 88 has more chance to forget lyrics he didnt even write in the first place, When you're 33 and need a teleprompter for songs you're supposed to have written, well this is what im talking about i dont want to argue about this mess again have it your way cause obviously you guys never listen

Tropico 4,145
oh also isnt tony like a living legend? even if he's 80 he should be able to remember the lyrics to the songs he has been covering for years See, I didn't care about this topic too much till this post. This is ridiculous. Tony IS a legend but that DOESN'T mean he's been granted with flawless memory. His legend status doesn't stop him from aging. Elderly people forget their day to say habits too so don't try throw the "covering for years" card. And you as one of those Madonna Stans who are always there to defend her against any form of ageism should understand the concept of aging. OT: ... WHY is this that big of a deal tbh? It's just a Teleprompter. It was quite surprising for me when Katy used this but not because she shouldn't. It was just surprising that artists do this to begin with. But can't we move on? ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

2007 5,291
Tony is 88 This, and I don't think gaga needs it anyway, she keeps moving around the stage while singing. + even if she did use it, CTC is a cover album and she might not be familiar with the songs and lyrics. lastly, don't compare gaga with Katy. Dominikko 355
The pressed monsters here It's just a ****ing teleprompter! All the BS here just doesn't make sense. I can sing a Katy or Gaga song without a teleprompter but I didn't write them.
GagaMyBlood95 9,915
Um Katy using it for her songs that SHE wrote, and Gaga + TONY using it for cover songs... Okay.
bionic 50,106
The only surprise is that Katy has the time during a pop show to use a teleprompter. Watching her tour DVD, she moves around so much it seems impossible to follow a teleprompter too. Its much easier for a jazz show. I can recite the lyrics to hundreds of songs that I have never wrote and haven't listened to for weeks, both in my native languages and in English. I also forget the lyrics sometimes, however. Age is irrelevent.
