Why was FameGa's Voice So Deep?

I don't quite agree. She sounds different now because her voice evolved over time or perhaps I should say recovered. It's almost impossible to keep your voice that way all the time and even if it's possible I don't think Gaga was doing that.

Her voice was so deep to the extend that she had to pitch Just Dance when she sings it live.

She already admitted that her label edited her voice to death, so I don't see why that wouldn't be the case with her first album which is her most poppy one.

I mean, she legit never sang Paparazzi in the proper key and it's hard to imagine her being able to without editing. I think that's more logical than saying her voice fell drastically downwards in the course of a few months.

Thank God it deepened. Not here for this bubblegum pop star Britney voice. I much prefer her current voice.

I think it was a combination of a lot of things:

- Gaga likes to change her vocal style up, and seeing as she was going against the grain of what a popstar was supposed to be. That vocal style gave her an edge.

- Her voice was strained, because she had been hustling for a long time. Seeing as she was starting out, she probably hadn't figured out how to use it most effectively for all the shows she was doing. Seeing as her voice was probably becoming more hoarse, it was also wise to completely change her live vocal style to match it.

- The studio songs are usually all pitched, at least to some extent. Live her vocals are always a little deeper, no matter what song she's singing.

Sure, her vocals have been edited. But those recordings you hear in that video are supposedly unedited. Gaga has been able to sing those notes - just look at pre-Fame performances. Her voice deepened during The Fame and she lost the ability to do so properly, probably due to a variety of factors, as well as that she chose to stylize her voice to be more deep and perhaps more nasal. It's probably a combination of a lot of factors.

Her voice sounded pretty hoarse and damaged then. Probably from lack if sleep, overworking, performing a lot, smoking, drinking, ect.

In an interview she said RedOne liked her "big 80s voice" so they used that. She sings in her natural range and timbre now and it will be healthier for her voice in the long run.

Her voice sounds better than ever, it's been improving exponentially since BTW era... She still has incredible uniqueness to her voice like she's always had, you can hear it in C2C, especially in live videos. The gaga-growls and over-the-top vocals (which I love) are still prevalent. Her voice has changed but its probably due to mostly vocal/jazz sessions and secondly to maturity.. Will your voice sound the same in 5 years? No. Her voice was edited and in result it sounded robotic in TFM, which has pros and cons.

Her voice was also deep during live performances. I don't think they also edited her voice during concert tours. That was her natural voice at that time. I think her label only fixed her voice to sound more radio-friendly and slightly robotic, that doesn't look like something that can make her voice so deep.
