It's not soulless...Swine...Aura Demo...Dope...DWUW...etc shows lots of emotion and the lyrics showcase that...

It just lacked maturity :derpga:

It's difficult to explain I how I feel about it.

When I listen to ARTPOP, I know there was of course meaning behind the songs. I know Gaga wrote from the heart, especially on songs like Dope and Gypsy. Yet I always find myself getting this feeling and thinking "this doesn't sound authentic. It sounds forced and hollow."

I don't know why, exactly. Maybe it's just the production on certain songs that takes away from the emotional impact to me. It just feels like the passion is missing.

you can't pass that opinion off as a fact and compare it to an actual fact, which is that everybody ISN'T going to like the albu

I'm not talking about liking it. If people don't like it I don't care it's just music and I enjoy it. It doesn't affect me in any way if other people don't like it. I'm just trying to explain why it's not right when someone says that it is soulless. It might be soulless to someone but it has soul. There is a difference.

Hate on ARTPOP as much as you want, but calling it "soulless"?! :saladga:

It's obviously her most personal album. She poured her heart, her mind and all her passion into it, and denying that is simply idiotic.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

You're trying to pass off your opinion as fact though :duck:

It might be soulless to someone, but it may have soul to another :awesome: It's all subjective at the end of the day

I actually think that it is a very mature album. The songs themselves might sound very fun and energetic melodically and sonically, but her lyrics are quite mature in my opinion. Take Swine for example. If you tell the GP to listen to that song they might hear an edm pop song, but underneath that, her lyrics are extremely personal and angry. I actually think ARTPOP is her most mature album to date. And I guess that makes sense cause she is more of an adult now than she was when she released all her other previous albums and it really shows in my opinion.

Just my two cents. :)

I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas.

Well actually it makes a difference when you say 'it is soulless' or when you say 'it is soulless to me'. That's called constructive criticism. I even took a seminar that deals with that subject so I know what I'm talking about.

uhm that's not constructive criticism? it's not even criticism, it's a statement, an opinion. and it's pretty self explanatory that when someone says "it's soulless" it's their opinion. They don't need to put a disclaimer in front of everything they say

I wouldn't say the album is soulless even though it's horribly juvenile and caters to teenagers more like born this way. I do like Venus though I think that's the only song on ARTPOP I like.

Yeah it seems like your professors aren't doing their job right since they can't teach people the difference between an opinion and constructive criticism.
