Luiz 4,253
http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/scottish-government-creationism-banned-from-science-class.126976076 CAMPAIGNERS who called for an official ban on teaching creationism in schools have welcomed a "clear statement" from a Scottish Government minister it should not be taught in science classes. The Scottish Secular Society (SSS) lodged a petition with the Scottish Parliament calling for guidance to be issued to bar the presentation of creationism as a viable alternative to evolution in schools.Earlier this month, MSPs on the Education and Culture Committee ruled out introducing new guidance, saying that schools should rely on teachers exercising their professional judgment, rather than introducing legislation. However the SSS have pointed to a letter sent to the committee by Alasdair Allan, minister for learning and science, which stated there are already a number of safeguards in place designed to ensure young people receive a balanced education. The letter added: "Guidance provided by Education Scotland, set out in the "Principles and Practice" papers and the "Experiences and Outcomes" documentation for each of the eight curriculum areas does not identify Creationism as a scientific principle. It should therefore not be taught as part of science lessons." I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it. Morphine Prince 109,682
It doesn't matter whether you believe in creationism or not. Creationism is not science therefore has no place in a science class. It's just that simple.

Blue Jeans 3,815
French schools never taught us Creationism, particularly in science We learn about it in history but not in detail, i learned in church and through my parents, its sad that there are still people (I know a few) who believe that the human life came from Adam and Eve Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen

PaperIz 7,354
Not gonna get into it much, but I don't like this Yes it hasn't been proved, but neither has Evolution and we should give our children all options of learning, not just one. Luc 4,776
Not gonna get into it much, but I don't like this Yes it hasn't been proved, but neither has Evolution and we should give our children all options of learning, not just one. Evolution is a fact. The processes of Evolution are all proven. The processes are as factual as Newton's law. We don't know if these processes lead to life as it is now (so evolution in practise - Darwinism), but every form of life and every organ and every small thing on every animal can be explained by the evolution theory. They should really change the word theory tbh. Way too many think that just because it says theory, it is not a fact. I think it's important that people learn about multiple concepts: intelligent design, evolution, creationism, evolution with a creationist start. And it's also important that people learn common misconcepts about religion (to prevent antisemitism and islamophobia) and why the Bible, Quran, etc are wrong and how they have different interpretations (like that some people believe that the 6 days in the Bible can also mean millions of years, because somewhere else in the Bible it says somethibg like a day is a thousand years). It should be taught in History or other subject not in Science... And it might not have been proven, but its a theory, and like most scientific theories you can't prove them at 100%, but they're accepted as a scientific wisdom and that's why they teach it at school.... While Creastionism can't even be theorized Destiny is for losers. Morphine Prince 109,682
They should really change the word theory tbh. Way too many think that just because it says theory, it is not a fact.A theory aims to explain how a process works. A scientific theory can never be proven, but it can be disproven. So when people say "theory" they are already confirming it is real without them realizing lol. Like when people say evolution "IS JUST A THEORY!1!!!111" they are showing their lack of knowledge on the definition of a scientific theory. Yes, the theory of evolution is a scientific theory because it has been observed and has a large consensus by the scientific community of it occurring (and it DOES) and the theory EXPLAINS the process of how it occurs. TimisaMonster 31,073
Well I wouldn't want creationism taught in school anyways...it's not even accuratly based on the Bible if that's what they're trying to push Creationists believe God created the earth in 6 literal 24 hour days...that's not what the Bible teaches, so therefore is inaccurate Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! I just think that multiple options should be taught. I wish I had the oppurtunity to be informed of different theories as a child, and that shouldn't be taken away from anyone. And I don't intend to convince anyone that creationism is fact because it can't be proven, just like evolution hasn't been proven. My literal only problem with this is that they're banning a thought process, I'd feel the same way if it evolution was being banned. Everyone should be able to decide what they want to believe, not to have it overseen like this. Human generated art
bionic 50,111
Is it not taught in Religion Studies instead? (By taught I mean 'highlighted as a belief' rather than 'taught as fact')

Everyone should be able to decide what they want to believe, not to have it overseen like this. The Evolution theory has been proven, hence theory. Just like the molecular theory and the cell theory, it's just true. It's just there.. But if the evolution is what caused the current biodiversity, is up to your personal belief. But remember that there's many fossiles of animals that look like other animals that don't exist anymore, and that every single change that a species has gone through, can be explained. Also, the fact that on islands near to eachother the animals only differ a small bit, but are still different species, supports that Evolution has taken place and is the cause of our current biodiversity. Maybe this might be fun for some people, who don't believe in applied evolution theory. (because the evolution theory itself can't be debated, just like how somebody can't say 'I don't believe in gravity!')
