doveve 526
The Bible claims that God loves everybody and everyone deserves forgiveness and compassion. But priests do not represent it. Why do they continue to support the hatred towards one group of people? Priests should be the ones encouraging everyone to be who they are and preach love and acceptance. They should be the ones fighting for peace in the world. Why is person's s-xuality so important to church???? They should focus on person's inner qualities and their soul. Now it sounds like the church wants to start a world war.. Why so much hatred even in the house of God, who is supposed to be good and forgiving? JDi 1,495
Wow. An organisation run by religious, conservative, (mostly) white, old men is insensitive to the rights of gays. That's a shocker. They can stay in their hypocritical palace of luxury, while preaching that heaven is for the poor and unprivileged, and see this major religion suffer a slow death as the youth become more and more disenfranchised by their backwards, ancient views. They're in a tough spot too. They've dug themselves a hole, they'll continue to not allow women priests or gay marriage because it's become a major theological ideology. If they admit they are wrong then their entire belief system starts to crumble. it's funny how this is so irrelevant you sound more paranoid and judgemental than those Vaticans. also, the Vatican is not luxurious and their lives are boring and restricted as ****. also, the Vatican has admitted to many things it originally had been wrong about and has been doing it for the past 500 years and nothing has crumbled. gays can't conceive life naturally and marriage is something the church had created to celebrate the union of conception. yes, you don't need to have children in order to stay married but it is the very fundament of the ritual and this is the only reason some Vatican priests are still cautious to accept gay marriage as a ritual of equal value. homos-xuality has already been accepted to be natural by the pope himself while the right of two men/women to raise children has never been denied by any church. it's just a matter of time before they decide to recognize such families as equally possessive of "divine wholeness" in their union and it has more to do with whether or not they will recognize fertilisation as a practice consistent with the principles of Christian morality. I don't need religion but superficial comments like yours are even less needed if u seek change sooner.
JDi 1,495
one thing that doesn't add up to the whole drama is the lack of drama for adoption when the heteros-xual couple isn't capable of conception. there lies the double standart.

I don't need religion but superficial comments like yours are even less needed if u seek change sooner. You have misinterpreted my comment completely. I mean the main chunk of what you just said is exactly why I made my original post." gays can't conceive life naturally and marriage is something the church had created to celebrate the union of conception. yes, you don't need to have children in order to stay married but it is the very fundament of the ritual and this is the only reason some Vatican priests are still cautious to accept gay marriage as a ritual of equal value"Umm yeah, I know. I went through kindergarten-year 12 in a Catholic school. My teachers thought I should become a priest and I scored in the top 10% of my state for my religious examination at the end of my life at high school. That's exactly why I said they have dug themselves a hole and why I said it was a part of their theology. It's what makes change so hard for them, it's why they are stuck in the past and are finding it hard to keep up with the times. It's why the youth are becoming more disillusioned with Catholicism.Same with women as priests. Not only does Corinthians state: "women are to keep silent in the churches" but it is the Catholic theology that priests are supposed to live life with Jesus as their role model. For nuns it's Mary. A woman can't be a Catholic priest because it doesn't make logical sense due to their theology. You start messing around with gay marriage and women priests and you are completely revising two holy sacraments and disregarding important Theology. In that sense their beliefs start to crumble if the Catholic Church so readily jumps to be in favour of these things.I couldn't really give less s--ts about what the Catholic Church decides to do. It's a sad reflection on them that they will not even allow a secular recognition of marriage between gay/lesbian couples but that's their prerogative. On the point of "luxury", the Catholic Church is worth $15 billion. They have some of the most expensive pieces of art ever created. Do you know what the official reason is for them not selling these pieces or donating their wealth to the poor?Because most of the art they own was taken in war and they don't think it's moral to sell what was stolen. They won't give it back, but they sure as hell aren't going to sell anything to help world poverty. Melech 9,900
it wasn't but it's their ritual homos-xual couples want to practice so... Don't act the modern marriage is anyhow influenced by the Catholic ritual. There are moslems and Jewish and Protestants living in Europe too. As well, there is a difference between marriage on law and marriage in religious institutions. I personally don't want to marry in a religious institution. I'm not catholic. But I want to be married in law.
