JDi 1,495
You have misinterpreted my comment completely." gays can't conceive life naturally and marriage is something the church had created to celebrate the union of conception. yes, you don't need to have children in order to stay married but it is the very fundament of the ritual and this is the only reason some Vatican priests are still cautious to accept gay marriage as a ritual of equal value"Umm yeah, I know. I went through kindergarten-year 12 in a Catholic school. My teachers thought I should become a priest and I scored in the top 10% of my state for my religious examination at the end of my life at high school. That's exactly why I said they have dug themselves a hole and why I said it was a part of their theology. It's what makes change so hard for them, it's why they are stuck in the past and are finding it hard to keep up with the times.Same with women as priests. Not only does Corinthians state: "women are to keep silent in the churches" but it is the Catholic theology that priests are supposed to live life with Jesus as their role model. For nuns it's Mary. A woman can't be a Catholic priest because it doesn't make logical sense due to their theology.I couldn't really give less ****s about what the Catholic Church decides to do. It's a sad reflection on them that they will not even allow a secular recognition of marriage between gay/lesbian couples but that's their prerogative.see, u actually care for theology and spirituality but you also see the church is nothing more than an outdated rotten institution. they did dig their hole themselves but it's happened long long time ago. what is happening now doesn't interest me personally because regardless of whether or not they accept gay marriage, the right of women to become priests or whatever, the not so distant future is a time when most everyone will have seen this institution for what it is and what the Christian world will be left with is the need for any sort of spiritual life which is already something everyone is able to experience without feeling cast out. so yeah, no need for revolution here. time will bury the drama. Bye 3,947
it wasn't but it's their ritual homos-xual couples want to practice so... No, when same-s-x marriages are passed into law it only affects civil weddings by the states and the law. Religious organisations are free to make up their own rules. Bye 3,947
too bad no one's talking about law. so what was this exactly? some new information I was supposed to take in?The referendum was about the law. So it does not affect the religious marriage. Therefore, no, it's not "their ritual homos-xual couples want to practice" as you said.

Sugarfall 3,723
They can like it or not, but western countries with protestant church don't give a **** about Vatican and most of the catholic countries are going to a more accepting direction too. Morphine Prince 109,682
oh please. I was not talking about the referendum at all so stop it.we were going kind of off-topic there with Bebe...Marriage concerns citizens and the state. I don't understand how hard that it so accept for most people. It literally has nothing to do with religion since religious institutions can still do whatever they want. A lot of religious institutions see no separation between the two and that's why many get angry over things they don't accept (gay marriage now, and interracial marriage in the US 50 years ago, for example). Morphine Prince 109,682
Also why is the Catholic Church still relevant? They always have something to say. When they start prosecuting their child molesters, start supporting safe s-x (condoms, pills), and support providing women with reproductive health services then they can come say something is a defeat for humanity. Which is true maybe in a small number of them. Most just want recognition by courts and to have the same benefits as heteros-xual couples.
hmm 979
Isn't the result of the vote enough as a 'reality check'? People are changing with compassion and kindness implanted on their mind. Let them change. Minds are changing as they are accepting alternative s-xualities. Let them accept. People want to make others happy. Let them make others happy. If some people stop shading teardrops because of a change, then that's the greatest victory mankind can ever witness. There are still numerous people who say 'eww...he's homos-xual'...but a number of people have stopped stereotyping homos-xuals and they say 'eww...he's homophobic'. That's a positive sign. Whoever said the things mentioned in the OP needs a reality check himself. People aren't always willing to make others go through pain just to keep their religious faith intact. That's reality. The person who mentioned the "reality check" is the archbishop of Dublin and he was more-so suggesting that the church will need to be more accepting of gay people. He was taking a completely different stance to that of whoever this Vatican diplomat is.

I know what most need. I wasn't talking about what the whole community demands. I was talking specifically about what is expected from the church and why it's understandable how things haven't changed yet on that front. otherwise, why even bother talking about the church? it is seriously beyond me how you can not understand this. like did I offend some of you somewhere in that post so much that you simply refuse to comprehend...
