URFUTUREFAV 1,292
Imagine a ballad like that: Our culture needs to be mainstream, like gosh it's ****ing amazing. ArabGa would be legendary. Imagine her fashion in an era like that: So ****ing hot and original.... GOSH People hate what they don't understand.

LeoFameMonster 1,592
The only thing that is Arabic about Aura is the word Burqa, to me it's a typical infected mushroom track. it's still my favorite on ARTPOP thoI think the entire concept of the song is about Arabic / Muslim culture. the lyrics tho"I'm not a wandering slave, I am a woman of choiceMy veil is protection for the gorgeousness of my face"

Dayman 6,179
If we can get some cool simple strings over an electronic song like this than I'll be happy. [Even though this isn't arabic really...]
Jjang 2,262
People would bash her relentlessly and she'd be bruised and bloodied for racism and cultural appropriation or whatever before the song could even hit the airwaves. And? she's not new to controversy. You answered a completely different question.
Florian 19,971
7 pages and nobody has mentionned this masterpiece ?!
blacklistedd 599
if she goes with a nice love song that has nothing to do with race, s-xuality, or any hot topic, there will be no issues and there will be no reason to bash her! remember Ojos asi by shakira, beautiful liear by beyonce and shakira, no one bashed them, they were actually hits! That was previous to the wave of the social justice extremist nonsense of today. blacklistedd 599
And? she's not new to controversy. You answered a completely different question.Shes not new to controversy but this is controversy not worth making. Look at ****ing Iggy Azalea. And I did not answer a completely different question. Essentially "no" is what you should've gathered using common sense Jjang.
cazGAGA 15
I would love it! Totally think she could have done this with Aura/Burqa but ARTPOP seemed to screw up somehow in that respect :(
ARTPOPchamp 292
I would prefer more arabian inspired dancing and choreography as opposed to an arabic sound.
ARTPOPchamp 292
Sex and The City in Abu Dhabi 2.0. Yes Please. Lady Gaga will be like Samantha, chased down by the muslim men for showing her skin and being s-xual.

Look at ****ing Iggy Azalea. And I did not answer a completely different question. Essentially "no" is what you should've gathered using common sense Jjang.Iggy Azalea is undoubtedly the easiest target out there, though. Not only she's wack (and i assume you'd agree on that) but she based her entire career off what other people claim to be cultural appropriation. She's being constantly attacked because she represents a prime perfect example of what the ideology of cultural appropriation is all about. However, if Gaga does what the OP suggests, she'd only be met with a few delusional Tumblr rants rather than an entire sharp & controversial reaction from the public and industry. Simply because its not on the same level.I personally don't know you so i can't decide whether you oppose the idea or not, you should have elaborated more. :)

As opposed to say....Riff Raff, who I think is a million times more offensive on that front. Granted, he didn't have the #1 hit in the country so I assume thats why hes gone untargeted. Anyway, Gaga is just as much an easy target as Iggy considering shes been accused of appropriation in the past. People come with daggers for Gaga over the tiniest things let alone being given a possible opportunity to further condemn her such as this. Those "tumblr" rants only start there and their point of view then spreads into popular consciousness. At any rate, why would anyone desire for her to ultimately be treated the way Katy Perry was for doing an asian themed performance? Sure the backlash was contained but its still an air of negativity thats totally avoidable. Because its not like she'd do anything interesting with said motif anyway, it would all be done in vain like it was with Aura. Theres so many other avenues to take that can ultimately be more interesting/fruitful.
