Woolfsmck 2,763
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/israel-refuses-pay-old-oil-000000071.html"Before Iran’s revolution, it and Israel were allied against the Sunni Muslim Arab nations in the region, who bridled against both the presence of a Jewish state in the Middle East and against Iran, a country that predominantly adheres to rival Shi’a Islam." Iran and Israel were allies? I didn't know this. "Now Iran and Israel are sworn enemies, with Tehran providing billions of dollars in military and financial aid to groups aligned against Israel, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza."This is the main stumbling block in the Palestinian/Israel conflict imo.. Given the Palestinian people want peace, their leadership has another agenda. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. hmm 979
Iran was one of the first muslim countries to recognise Israel (obviously this is before the 1979 revolution though). Why do your quotes from the article having nothing to do with the title of the thread though
Didymus 34,380
"Israel is refusing to comply with an order by a Swiss court that it pay $1.1 billion that it has owed to Tehran since before Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution for its share of a jointly owned oil pipeline. (...) According to the court, Israel's liability includes not only the $1.1 billion for its share in EAPC, but an additional $7 million to cover Iran’s legal fees."This should be in the OP. The Israeli government stepped in and took over the project and cut out the Iranian company completely. The article has some information relevant to the problem that the Palestinian people are facing. Simply pointing out Israel's actions is only 'half' of the problem. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. hmm 979
Because the quotes I outlined were information that was new or relevant to the conflict in the region. The title of the thread is the title of the article ... The information you outlined wasn't new though Whilst the wider issue is the conflict of course; the article in specific isn't on either Iran's transition from monarchy to republic or the subsequent proxy war - that's just begging for the thread to go off-topic. No, new to me tho, but some of the members seem to post 'only' Israeli activities and damn them for it without putting it into context.
