Well, I didn't make this thread to discuss ARTPOP's performance. This has been discussed like a million times. I've moved on.

I even removed "flopping".

She has never under-performed in her entire career. We can all agree that the vocals on The Fame weren't as perfect as they are now, but The Fame was recorded in 2007/2008 at a time where Gaga was being incredibly commercialised and they didn't want her to sound like the next best singer in the world, they just wanted her to sound cute and whimsical. 

If you've ever watched a live performance of Gaga, whether it be from 2006, 2010 or today, you cannot say that her voice has EVER under-performed. (I know this **** - I'm a singer, ok? ok.)

She already impressed me with her voice in her pre-Cheek to Cheek eras. However I do have to agree that Cheek to Cheek and the Oscar performance impressed me even more, but I'm not that affected.

Um, no! The way she has her voice now did not magically happened over night. She trained for it, hence the reason you can hear a difference. But in all honesty, she has always shown us she has strong pipes. Even during the Fame era. Just look for Fooled Me Again (Honest Eyes) and you will see what Im talking about

I don't agree with you.  From 2008-2013 Gaga simply didn't even have those capabilities, I mean the vocals she portrayed at the Oscars are the result of hard work the previous few months + the Jazz album with tony and all the vocal classes that Gaga had to do.......

She has always portrayed her vocals, have you heard Teeth at the Monster Ball Tour by HBO ? or You and I etc. . .  she simply couldn't sing the way she sung at the Oscars, at the time...

It has nothing to do with underperforming, however if ARTPOP was a huge success, we might have never gotten the Oscars performance and C2C, but that's not because she would've hiden her vocals, she would just not practice as much etc.
