JgHaus78 1,937
Gaga has a ton of writing topics and I wish people recognized this more. We notice the love, s-x, and fame songs, but she has so much more. I went through all of her songs and organized them into different levels of relatability and included the meaning of each song to show that A)Gaga expands her writing topics all the time and, B)She conveys relatable AND un-relatable topics in a variety of ways. No matter how you like your Gaga lyrics served, she sets the table with something for everyone. Of course, people might organize the songs differently; these are just my opinions about the relatability of the music. Some of these certainly can overlap. Like Kaboom is only relatable to people who have one night stands, but the lyrics themselves are quite simple so I put it in the first category (same with a lot of other songs about love/relationships/s-x/etc.). Some of them I could have put into multiple categories depending on how I looked at it, and there are some that I personally find really relatable but aren’t necessarily relatable on a mass scale (like I personally can really relate to ARTPOP, the song) but this is what I came up with: (and I worked on it for a couple hours so don’t be too finicky about how they’re organized ) Easily Relatable/Simple Lyrics: Hidden Content Relatable Concept/Abstract Lyrics: Hidden Content Somewhat Relatable Concepts/Difficult Lyrics: Hidden Content Relatable to Specific Cultures/Types of People: Hidden Content Not Easily Relatable/Specific to Gaga: Hidden Content So, whether done in a relatable way or not, Gaga has sung about: Relationships (being happily in love, starting new relationships, being lied to, being cheated on, loving someone who loves someone else, missing someone, on and off relationships, wanting someone you can’t have, leaving past lovers, etc.) Sex (experimenting with other women, one night stands, forbidden s-x, rape, masturbation, oral s-x, practicing safe s-x, rough s-x, bondage, submissive/dominant roles, etc.) Partying (having fun, clubbing, dancing, forgetting your troubles) Fame (the positive and negative sides of fame, critiquing how we view fame, manipulating the media, the music industry, etc.) Perseverance (getting through hard times, being there for others, etc.) Feminism (fighting for your rights, being strong as a woman, gender roles, etc.) Self -Love (being yourself, accepting who you are, accepting the light and dark sides of you, etc.) Depression/Addiction (suicide, alcoholism, d--gs, loneliness, insecurity, etc.) Image (fashion, using your image to convey a meaning, using your image to transform into what you want to be or who you are, etc.) Death Travel Immigration LGBT Rights and more! But...I've been at this for hours and I'm done. this deserves it's own thread WOW
Cody Draco 2,531
I wonder how is Alejandro, a worldwide hit single from the fan favorite album, The Fame Monster, in the slightest, relatable? I wonder how the lyrics "I want your psycho, your vertigo stick, want you in my Rear Window, baby you're sick", or "Ra ra roma roma ma Gaga uh lala" from the smash hit single, fan favorite, gp recognizable and most iconic song from Gaga according to monsters, Bad Romance, in the slightest, relatable? Some of you are claiming relatable lyrics equals a hit song, but Gaga already proved you wrong in the past. How the hell is Bad Romance and Alejandro not relateable? I've related to them since I was like 11 years old. Have you not lived?

Ronk 14,761
Calm down. I love the metaphors behind Gaga's lyrics rather than straight to the point lyrics. I like that she uses more complex words in her poetry. It's much better than "like" "as" all the time in songs. I also love the way she uses metaphors. In fact, sometimes the entire song meanings are metaphorical. The fans understand but the GP doesn't. People think Hair is actually about hair, and they think she is in love with Judas. In that respect, misunderstood metaphors cost her some popularity. I live outside the space time continuum.
Babel 41,406
How the hell is Bad Romance and Alejandro not relateable? I've related to them since I was like 11 years old. Have you not lived? No, I haven't lived in a world full of obsessed Alejandros and Fernandos, and my boyfriend is not like my dad. Good for you I guess. And It's okay if you did relate to them, I'm not complaining about that, because everybody is different and has lived different experiences, the comparisson was also to proove that lyrics doesn't have to be literal to be relatable. elijahfan 25,956
"ARTPOP" You won't find that in a dictionary tho... I mean not yet And I'm not really agreeing with the OP. ARTPOP features some of her weakest lyrics. I love it when lyrics feel poetic and don't necessarily make sense right away. I'm understanding new stuff from like TFM all the time. SwayPOP 16
Her vocabulary terms in her songs are fine. Actually, I would love if she used a even more broad vocabulary in her songs. That the one problem I have with her lyrics . she should put out more broader vocab

moonboywow 3,136
Pop music deserves more. this is what i would kill for....lyric wise in one of her songs. something REALLY ****ING DEEP for once. Pop music does NOT have to be the way it is right now. She could possibly change the game if she wrote a poem like this and then turned it into a pop song. Hell, I would like to just hear her voice read a long poem type thing like this. what do you think?

ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Pop music is already like this. There is music beyond top 40 and "pop" indie tumblr Do I really even need to say this? 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
