Serendipity 7,821
thank you. like...i dont understand why im getting hate for wanting Gaga to BRING IT with this next album. I feel like...in order for her to really be taken seriously as a pop legend, she should write about more complex things. things that are not s-x, partying or d--gs. AT LEAST one song about real sh1t dope was awesome though. I don't seem to understand the point of songs like GUY and Sexxx Dreams where the only meaning is s-x, not much else See talent here-->http://bit.ly/2eqeUxK

AT LEAST one song about real sh1tdope was awesome though.I see you chose to ignore my posts. Gagz has lyrics which go beyond s-x and partying. It's beyond me where you came to the conclusion that that is all she talks about. It's like you've only listened to a hand full for her songs. Because is reality she is more than capable of writing about "complex" (and your definition of complex isn't exactly complex) lyrics and she has shown this on every album. Songs like ARTPOP and Speechless make use of brilliant a--logies and metaphors throughout the song. Bloody Mary is beyond genius as well by connecting the story of Jesus, Mary Magdalene and other Biblical stories to present day things. And even her songs about partying are smart. Like Just Dance. The song may appear to be very generic but the actual lyrics are quite through provoking. "Roses have thornes they say, control yoyr poison babe". She says that with such passion that you can actually understand the pain of alcoholism. So don't belittle her song writing efforts please. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

Tropico 4,145
I don't seem to understand the point of songs like GUY and Sexxx Dreams where the only meaning is s-x, not much else It's true that you don't understand. It's not true that the songs are just about s-x. Literally so obvious that G.U.Y. is in reference to not only s-x but the music industry and 3rd wave feminism. The message is that a strong woman who knows herself can be comfortable with being underneath because she knows she has the power to be on top but isn't insecure and doesn't feel the consistent need to prove this by being on top. Then it also links to the music industry like I said. What Gaga says is that she doesn't need to be at #1 on Billboard Hot 100 to be positive that her music is top notch. This was explained in great detail in the actual G.U.Y. video. And Sexxx Dreams is some of Gaga'# best lyrics because she plays the role of two people at the same time or one person with completely different mind sets. Sexxx Dreams is a song about a bis-xual mistress who seeks to be s-xually involved with a person who is presumed to be a girl dating a boy who went out of town. Yes, s-x is an aspect of the song but it's more than that. It's a dark song dealing with s-xuality, lust and cheating. So no. Sexxx Dreams and G.U.Y. are not just about s-x. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

I want a song like that to be a single. Oh so it boils down to charts for you? Well Gaga clearly doesn't feel the need for her to have to make every thought provoking song a single to prove to the world that she's intelligent. And ARTPOP may not have been a single but it was given some promo. And it has great lyrics. And how about Marry The Night? Arguably her best lyrics. On a whole new level. It was a single. You know, just because the sings don't have a dark beat like Bloody Mary and Speechless, doesn't mean they aren't thought provoking. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
Pop 4,541
I'm just wanting gaga to follow through on that particular trend. Instead of writing a song about being a power bottom, she could literally change up her game so drastically and release a song that will literally make you get goosebumps because it TOUCHES YOUR VERY SOUL. I heard that video above for the first time yesterday and I literally..it resonated so hardcore with me. Don't you want gaga music that makes you get goosebumps because it's so well written and complex?Agreed.ARTPOP suffered from themes that were too superficial. My favorite songs on the album were Dope, ARTPOP, Gypsy and Aura because they weren't your typical pop music lyrics. Sometimes I feel like im the only one who wants gaga to be more authentic in her songwriting
TimisaMonster 31,073
I never said it was pop music I'm saying she could make something like that. She could make pop music that has the same effect. Also, she said she never wore pants in 2008 so her grandma could see her. Things change. But why as a song? It would make more sense to do it as a interlude for a song or something... Gaga has done this before tho...Manifesto of Little Monsters/Mother Monster, "Next Day" spoken word poem, Black Jesus (Mugler Remix), etc... Why would Gaga lie about her writing style for WW fans? Ladey Gagz 2,512
You seem to be looking for something else, that isn't pop music. If you want super extra deep lyrics, pop music is not the thing you're looking for.

If you want super extra deep lyrics, pop music is not the thing you're looking for. Yet centuries by fall out boy was popular. It was all over the radio. Take me to church was popular. Pop music does not mean katy perry and lady gaga. Pop music is whatever is the big thing. With the right beat and the right way of wording, anything..any genre can be "pop music"
moonboywow 3,136
Why is everyone so afraid of gaga changing the subject matter she sings about? Look how born this way did. It changed things. If she sang about more serious stuff but made it "pop suitable" like americano or marry the night.
ryhanna 3,507
I think Gaga does pretty well adding substance to her own pop music for the most part, but she could always go further. As for pop music in general, I totally agree. A little more complexity and variety of themes and subjects would be awesome.
