They may have more commercial success but no impact

I kissed a girl is a pop rock song. And once again, I know that there were artists releasing electronic music before Gaga, but they were isolated hits. Artists like Cascada even said that Gaga paved the way for artists like them. And what was Rihanna new directions that you are talking of?

Gimme More, Womanizer, Circus, Umbrella, Can't Get You Out of My Head etc. were isolated hits? Maybe you're American and it was different there but I don't think dancey music ever died in Europe

The 2000s were mostly dominated by hip hop and some pop rock. It wasn't until aggressive electronic albums like the Fame that all artists followed. It was quite obvious actually. Rihanna has been one of the most successful artists this generation. But at the end of the day I am talking about who had more influence and impact (not just music), and Rihanna is just not as influential as Gaga.

2000, 2005 & 2006 and a big portion of 2007 was dominated by dance music. Artists like Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and The Black Eyed Peas are prime perfect examples of that, meaning dance music was always mainstream. And it still is, the only difference is that sometimes it dies down and other times it shoots straight back up, regardless of this pointless discussions, let me remind you that dance music has been offering nothing but low key hits ever since 2011. So much for Gaga's supposedly massive imapct.

Admitedly, US was behind on the dance trend. But after Gaga released the Fame, just about everyone followed with electronic dance music.

I'd still like to know who exactly that is, though.

While you try to come up with an answer, why don't you read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rihanna#Legacy_and_influence

It addresses (or should I say dismisses) several of your points, incl. even:

"On June 2, 2014, Rihanna was presented with Fashion Icon lifetime achievement award from Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), a special prize reserved for "an individual whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage"."

Your point only applies for the US and even there not that well with Britney, Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna around

I am specifically talking about electronic dance music. But you are right on the low key hits. But that is not Gaga's fault and her influence still holds true.

I already addressed this, Madonna has been hailed and credited for bringing electronic dance music with Ray of Light & Music to the mainstream, why do i have to repeat this **** over and over again?

I read that wiki, and it mostly talks about her success. She definitely had impact, but at the end of the day I am talking about who had more, and to me is clear that is Gaga.

Once again, Britney or Rihanna did not influence everyone else like Gaga did though.

"They may have more commercial successt but no impact" is literally the title of this thread.

You made this huge statement and now you're backing down? how lame. Just admit that you were wrong and move on.

Britney's impact beyond music came during her prime. Rihanna won an award for her fashion. I disagree.
