Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced a bill Sunday that would remove legal barriers to adoption by lesbian, gay and transgender parents.

Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) said she will introduce legislation this week that would prohibit discrimination against adoptive parents.

The Every Child Deserves a Family Act would prohibit any entity that receives federal funds from discriminating against adoptive or foster parents based on s-xual orientation, gender identity or marital status.

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

Dangerous Man

Great. At the very first place, any human should have the right to adopt a human.

LoveandMagic

The only thing that should matter when it comes to adopting a child is the person/couple the loving and supportive type? Families come in many different forms, from different backgrounds and incomes, but the thing all children needs are structure, having their basic needs met (food, clothes) and a safe, loving environment to be nurtured in. Access to good education should also be a must. Sexual preference (unless they are a predator of course) shouldn't matter in the slightest. I don't care if it's two mommies or two daddies, will they be able to give the child the care they need to grow into a happy, healthy, and productive adult. I've met many same s-x couples that can do just that, and more importantly want to, so I am all for this measure.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
