Katie14 4,828
I love Gaga’s music. But, I have always had this feeling that she could make music that is so much better and unique than what she puts out. Its seems like her intelligence in interviews and her creativity in her videos and performances don’t match up to her music. Most of her music is pretty generic, catchy pop, though I will definitely admit her music has gotten less and less generic for the most part. Basically, I don’t think her music is nearly as unique, interesting, creative, and intelligent as she is.She comes across as almost genius like by the way she talks about her work. I have just always had this feeling like the best is yet to come with her. She even kind of said this in the Miranda Sawyer interview (the one she did after being up for 48 hours with the Robert Wilson project). She said that she isn’t sure if anything she has done is even good. That she is still very young and discovering her potential.I can’t necessarily blame her for this because im sure the music industry influenced/forced her to make music that is radio friendly and generic in order for her to build and maintain popularity. I think her music is very controlled and then she is allowed to do more of what she wants to do for her videos and performances. I think that is where the discrepancy lies.Have you ever thought this about her?
Fiona Apple 13,006
Her music is not generic.....And never was
Jjang 2,262
I agree, to a certain extent. I think she will have her shining moment soon. (musically)
Didymus 34,380
Couldn't agree more I expected a lot more from her after her The Fame era, personally. It's just always a bit weird to hear her talk about all the brilliant, amazing artists she grew up listening to and then to hear her own stuff which is sort of.. not what you'd expect. Still, I think she didn't release one mediocre album. Pop-wise her stuff is great. But I do think she's meant for more than that and she seems to agree with me in one of her more recent interviews: "I think I came in through pop music but I never really belonged there." The last paragraph I think we can expect amazing things from her in general, I just hope she's able to put them in her own career, 'cause in my personal opinion, she shines brightest when she's doing something "else" (her Sting performances, the Stevie Wonder tribute, the Oscars performance, the Cheek to Cheek live performances, The Rolling Stones,...). Sugarfall 3,723
I don't like how you're implying how pop music is any 'worse' than some other genre. She writes her music and has big control over everything, that's already a lot more than many others do.

Nicely put I think we have just seen only a mere fraction of Gaga's true potential She has come a long way, but has more to go See talent here-->http://bit.ly/2eqeUxK
Alien Tulip 12,428
I dont think she's in the exact position to act superior over making catchy pop music. Many people have this misinterpretation that she was forced to make The Fame when really its the album she wanted to make. If you've been a gaga fan since day one then you'll know that she was very proud of her debut album and even before she became mainstream famous, she was making music that evolved and evolved and you can tell from the transition from 2006 - 2007 that she wanted to make dance music. I wish fans would understand that there's nothing wrong with catchy pop music. Yes Gaga can make more different music if she wanted to. Gaga has said herself "People think electronic music is soulless and its not" which is so true. It's kind of sad that her new fans paint out electronic music to be this "generic crap" that gaga is forced to put out. Maybe ARTPOP was something she was forced to simmer down but her first three albums sonically came from her heart. It's kind of annoying that this fan base has been brainwashed and evolved into tumblr music experts that think Gaga needs to make music like Bjork in order to solidify her musicianship. I'm not directing this to you at all but it's something I've noticed with gaga fans. If her next album is electronic then I know many of the hipster fans here are going to get angry because they want a bjork album lol.

Didymus 34,380
I don't like how you're implying how pop music is any 'worse' than some other genre. She writes her music and has big control over everything, that's already a lot more than many others do. But at the same time she admitted that she can't even make her voice sound the way she wants to and that her creative freedom can be completely sabotaged (Troy's "one week" obligations for the Applause/DWUW videos). She also said she hates singles and wishes she wouldn't have to release them etc. so sometimes I honestly wonder if she really benefits from having a say in her career. It seems that she never gets the time to truly create something special.
VTV 12,922
right now, Gaga needs consistency.

AyaKara 2,282
I think her music is already amazing, but I do think she could do even better. The strength of her voice wasn't really shown until Bad Romance and Teeth, and then it went full force on BTW's album as a whole, then here and there on ARTPOP. Gaga's voice is highly versatile and I think she can do a lot of interesting things with it on future albums.
Swan Heart 7,382
I agree with you.. I adore all of Gaga's music but she can do much more then that.. And as you said, I'm sure her best stuff is yet to come.. Oh and.. Drag ARTPOP Don't be a disrespectful idiot, darling. ARTPOP is her best work yet along with Born This Way. They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.
