Making it Tidal exclusive would be anything but benefiting, Rihanna.

Jay, Beyonce & Rihanna,  there's no saving Tidal. Ditch that. You're not an album seller, Rih. Just stop.

What is not made clear is, if it's a Tidal exclusive, will that mean you can't buy a digital copy or physical copies in the shops? Everything that was made Tidal exclusive up until now (besides Rihanna's music videos) have not been authorised by Tidal to be accessed on any other format, online or physical. Obviously, they can't just keep an entire album limited to their 800k members (and not all of them are Rihanna fans either), so why are they claiming it to be Tidal exclusive? This whole concept is getting well out of hand. Jay's too proud to let it go, even it means dragging down himself, Beyonce, Kanye and everyone on his label. I feel really sorry for Rihanna fans right now: a new style of music a lot of them aren't feeling, no clear second single, delayed music videos, unable to access new music...I wonder if Rihanna realises all this or she just thinks she's invincible.

Even whole the album is going to be exclusive? Mess. Tidal is bad news. :sharon:

Well this whole partnership isn't doing positive things for her sales, but maybe she doesn't really care about that  I don't mind as long as I'm able to purchase the album on iTunes at the end of the day, I doubt it'll be a Tidal exclusive forever :laughga:

Same, it's the first Rihanna album that I'm looking forward to purchasing, I've never purchased an album of hers before

Jay Z pimping Rihanna out, trying to get Tidal out there. I bet he won't do that to the next Beyonce album. :neyde:

I'm sure she is not happy being used like a two dollar hooker to sell Tidal to the public.

Of course there will be physical copies. What TIDAL exclusive most likely means is that it will initially be available on TIDAL first and then will be released everywhere else.

Kind of like Disneyland being open to guests staying in the resort like an hour before the general public.

Maybe. Out of all her albums, this was not the best one to launch as Tidal affiliated. If this was the album after Loud or TTT, she wouldn't have had quite the same problem. But this is the album that is being released after a (until this point) 2 and a half year break, which is going to be the longest break Rihanna's ever taken. To come back after all this time with new ways of getting her music out there, but the public aren't interested in these new ways...it's a disaster. She's the one on Roc Nation I feel the most sorry for - everyone else is still coping well, but Rihanna's been royally screwed over by Tidal for reasons I'm still not quite sure of. It's almost like Jay's using her as a guinea pig for the service. Or maybe "crash test dummy" would be a more suitable phrase due to Tidal's various misfortunes.

Well, that's better. But it's still a stupid idea. A lot of people are streaming albums before they buy nowadays, which explains why first week sales are so bad of late (people stream it, dislike it, don't buy it). If an album isn't available to stream, unless you're Taylor Swift, it isn't going to result in good debut sales. Someone will rip Tidal's audio and put it up on basically any other site so people can hear it. By the time it gets released properly, only her diehard fans will care.

Bad idea. Most people will wait for it to be ripped and then download it illegally.
