Which era do you think Gaga had the most creative freedom with? music style, era concept etc.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

I knew there'd be ARTPOP jokes :emma:

Born This Way.

After the huge success of TF/TFM, it seemed like managent and her label trusted her more to make her own decisions.

BTW clearly, I mean she directed/co directed at least 3/5 videos for starters, she seemed to be able to wear what she wanted and speak about what's she wanted, firing and hiring people at her will etc etc

LADY GAGA/madonna/katy perry/little mix/ariana grande/selena gomez/britney spears/taylor swift

The fame era. I felt like things became restricted during the fame monster and it's been an on going battle until her and her former manager parted ways.

i dont really know how the record industry works and all :emma: but i imagine that once you prove yourself you can have more creative control and after TFM i'd say she proved herself and they would give her as much control as possible until she flops so i'd say ARTPOP.

the C2C was a collab with her and tony with cover songs right? i wouldnt really count that one

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

I'd say The Fame but I remember her saying she had to beg and beg her label/management to let her even sit in the room while they were editing the just dance video

I would say Born This Way. She directed most of the videos and was her fashion that era was changing a lot.

She also has a lot of control in C2C, but not as much as BTW because she has to be considered with Tony.

I think ever since Born this Way she was free to do whatever she wants (after the HUGE The Fame !)

With the Fame Monster she had freedom but not as much as she had during ARTPOP for exemple ^^

I hope she's still free after the ARTPOP mess...    :/ but with Bobby as manager there's good chance ^^

TFM clearly not. She pointed that in many interviews, and the reference in Applause video. (She dressed as Marilyn Monroe/TFM image, trying to escape from cage).

I think, maybe BTW, maybe Cheek to cheek?

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

BTW. Almost everything about this album is explictly anti-commercial. LGBT references. rock influences, foreign phrases, ambiguous themes and lyrics, downright weird songs...This album encapsulated the true Gaga and was truly the kind of music she had wanted to make for so long. It was also the album where it was usually just her and one other person credited. And she was allowed to do it because she was so famous, so successful, so powerful. When you're in that position, labels allow you unbelievable lee-way. Taylor Swift's allowed to do whatever she wants because she consistently pulls out amazing sales to the point where her label is working for her, not the other way around. We'd seen Gaga take risks before and be successful, so clearly, Interscope thought "She knows what she's doing and she sometimes knows better than us." So, they gave her complete control, just to see how she'd manage. It was successful enough to the point where she was still allowed plenty of freedom next time, but could you imagine if BTW had sold 20 million worldwide, like the label supposedly hoped it would? The ARTPOP album and the entire campaign would be almost unrecognisable,

Really surprised that so many of you voted for TF and AP. I think her features of Flo Rida on TF and R Kelly, Guetta and will.i.am on AP (along with almost everything else that era) will tell you how much control she had.
