Gaga on Oprah's Next Chapter March 18th.

Fortunately, this interview is being played over and over again on OWN - so I watched it again - and gotta admit that it IS really good - - so many really good and authentic moments.

First off - Gaga was totally in her "conventional' mode - same as her Thanksgiving special - of trying to appeal to everyone. Also, I think it was so good because she was finally being interviewed by someone with a brain who actually KNOWS how to conduct an interview!! And also, I think because her mother was there. Not that Gaga needs someone to hold her hand, but it is obvious that she is so much more relaxed and comfortable when her mom is around.

My favorite moments were:

- when Oprah knocked on the door and Gaga and her mother were whispering over who should open the door!!! LMAO!!!

- when her mother was squirting out hand-moisturizer or whatever it was and Oprah says "I'll take some"

- when Cynthia says to Oprah, "welcome to our home" as Oprah comes in gift-in-hand

- the way that they had the table set for special "company" - and Gaga making and pouring the tea

I liked when Gaga just quietly sat there trying to let her mother have some attention - but then, since being quiet is not Gaga's forte, she did start jumping in when the mother was trying to talk, which was really obvious and not too nice.

The home movies of Gaga kissing Natalie and then playing the piano were absolutely ADORABLE!!

Surprised they didn't mention anything about the new restaurant - and invite Oprah to it. Isn't the head chef Oprah's former chef??

And where was Joe G.?? Would've been fun to have him atleast walk thru. And where were the dogs?? Don't they have 2? Would've been cute to have them skirmishing around. I bet they were with Joe.

Also - always wondered, if they moved into that apartment when Gaga was 6 - - then where did they live before that? where was Gaga born??

One other thing - I read in some article that the downstairs level of a family room is like a shrine to Gaga with all her platinum records hanging - - would've been nice to have seen that too.

Oh well - could've spent less time on Oprah at Harvard and more of Gaga at home imo, but still - good stuff!!

I really missed her father too. I did see one dog. really tiny tackle or something and it had a jacket on :')

I did, and I also wanted to see their dogs but they didn't show them

At 52:00 you will see a short glimse of one of their dogs behind the table in the middle of the screen.

I watched this earlier on - it was great! Gaga's family house was definitely different to what I always imagined it to look like. It's adorable though! As is her Mom.

We got to see so many amazing and interesting pictures from Gaga's childhood, and see some really cool things (such as where Gaga would sing Whitney Houston the staircase, where she wrote TEOG and other hits, videos of her and Natali as children, etc.). This is one of her best interviews/features, definitely.

Oprah was really charming too!

Oh - and the whole "hibernation" thing, well. It's obvious she was talking about using d--gs for creative purposes when making albums. I, as would almost all of us I am sure, don't like the thought of Gaga using any hard d--gs, but if that's what she decides is best, then I won't argue against it. As long as she's safe!

The fact the "door" to this next album is already open is so freaking exciting... She must have a title/theme/vision/few songs/etc. by now - and if the way she has recently been dressing and presenting herself is anything to go by, I'm sure we're in for a treat. The whole media blackout is perfect too, she definitely hit the nail on the head with the "concentrate on your own thoughts" thing, that seems to be the best thing for her to do.

I think Oprah's in love with Cynthia. She couldn't keep her hands off her the whole time. Even brushing Cynthia's hair back at the dinning table. I was like, really, Oprah? Really? :dies:

Yeah I noticed that too! Later she touched her without any reason :D

Guys it seems the interview had low ratings, because there was no press release from OWN about the ratings :( OWN just announced next episode of Oprah's Next Chapter without mentioning Gaga.

Here are some ratings from previous episodes :

Steven Tyler - 1.2 million viewers

Whitney Houston's family - 3.5 million viewers

That's the impression you got - what was it that she said that made you think this way? Remember on Howard Stern last year, she said she doesn't take d--gs anymore, minus a bit of weed now and then? The thought of her taking hard d--gs frightens me like you don't even know and I thought she said she didn't need to resort to that anymore to write albums.

She did say that she goes into this space where she does things that her parents wouldn't approve of. I'm guessing she smokes weed and drinks. Either that or she just swears a lot until a song comes to her. Her mom wouldn't like that. :toofunny:

Oh, right. Well, that wouldn't necessarily mean heavy d--g taking, then. It could mean anything. I remember some of the photos in the Terry Richardson book concerned me a little. She looked like she was a bit out of it at times or was collapsed on the floor. Sure, she might just have been drunk (and in the final few pictures, elated) but I feared that sometimes, she was high on class A something. Though I guess a lot of these photos were taken in 2010 when we know she was taking a little bit of questionable substances occasionally (like when she said in Vanity Fair that she doesn't do coke anymore but she'd last had it about six months ago). I hope the deaths of Amy and Whitney, women with histories of drink and d--gs problems have made her see sense. Even when Gaga says she's off d--gs for good, it's always difficult to believe her completely.

It seems obvious really. She is talking about "things her parents wouldn't approve of", "being safe", "creativity", etc. There's nothing else it could be - and we all know she has admitted to still doing c-----e from time to time (didn't she say once or twice a year in Vanity Fair?).

I am very glad I had the chance to watch this last night, one of the best interviews I've seen of her. It did seem a bit odd with Oprah and Cynthia, I'll admit.
