Remember that Gaga is a class act

I think people are excited at the prospect because Madonna was a big inspiration for Gaga coming up musically (as was Bowie). As for Katy, a collab with her would probably give Gaga that chart slayage so many people here are obsessed over. I wouldn't mind either because it would be a nice gesture toward uniting the fan bases and a good way to "bury the hatchet" as far as the media is concerned.

I would definitely be here more for a Madonna collab (no offense to Katy) but would probably prefer a rock or more eclectic collab. My top picks: Bowie, Kate Bush, Adele, and Bjork. She really can do it all, so there is no need to just be confined to pure pop (but there is nothing wrong with a pop collab).

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

I agree completely with OP, these kind of collabs are just some fan's wet dreams but that makes no sense in view of Gaga's own evolution as an artist.  She is way outside the box of these girls. Perhaps a Rock collab, if any, will be more interesting for her.

How is that so? Madonna is (or was) far more musically / artistically adventurous than Gaga.

I don't think it's important to be obsessed with being artistic, for first, what does that even mean, can someone define it? And secondly, she did put "art in the front" with the AP era and it backfired. so I don't see how Gaga's work up until this point would go against her collabbing with Katy or Madonna. She is their peer, and not in the slightest above them in any way other than vocal talent.

Also a lot of us love Katy & Madonna but the haters are of course louder most of the time.

Still, I don't think the collab is happening, but not because it shouldn't and because it wouldn't be awesome because it would be, it's simply not going to.

We all have divergent opinions and that'd be nice if we all keep this thread respectful and don't start shading each other. Most of you are right, depending on your points of view.

I just wanted to say that Gaga should remain true to herself and I really wish for her to be... and stop doing what her fans expect her to do or dream to do.

The Gaga/Katy/Madonna collaboration will not happen though, the main focus of the thread was about why fans want a collaboration when they know it won't happen and when they know the initial situation, not the class act thingy even if I still defend it. Gaga will still be controversial in the future because that's what the fame is. As for the collaboration... I'd see her collaborate with REALLY talented artists, this is a thing I didn't specify in the OP. Maybe the "class act" term I used was wrong, I should have used talented instead.

Class act since C2C. ARTPOP wasn't very mainstream, it was really crafted for the radio but it came out too late and it wasn't easily relatable. You're right about the quality though.

How so?  In the 6 or 7 seven years since gaga's been out, she's done pop dance edm r&b trap rock jazz musicals ( SOM) etc. she has performed with everyone from Yoko Ono, the Rolling Stones, Sting to Beyoncé and Christina (while Madonna has always refused to perform live with other musicians). How is she more musically adventurous than Gaga?

The fact that Madonna represents a very obvious inspiration to many aspects of Gaga's career and artistry yet a collaboration will supposedly harm her as an artist (according to the OP) is literally the epitome of irony.

It makes sense, non because Madonna isn't a class act, but because the whole "Madonna copy" label got thrown at Gaga so harshly. She needs to DISTANCE herself, and what's she's been doing with Tony B and Julie A serves that purpose.  For much of the GP, being like Madonna means relying to gimmicks and attention whoring to cover a lack of vocal ability (fair or not).

You can still be a mainstream and popular artist without limiting yourself to one genre, that's what Gaga said and obviously that's what she wants to be as an artist :

"I wanted to set myself free of this box, this box they put you in Pop Music, "It's like I have to stay in the box to be a good doll. I don't wanna be in the box........ i wanna be outside the box with all of you." (SwineFest 2013)

Structurally speaking, the vast majority of her music is conventional pop music, a very simple yet recognizable pattern.

Its pretty common for mainstream artists to jump from Europop to edm especially as of 2007-2015.

I didn't say that Gaga wasn't a multi talented singer that is indeed capable of performing with a long a diverse list of artists, i simply stated that she hadn't proven herself to be as adventurous and daring as Madonna was (not that she has to anyway).

(while Madonna has always refused to perform live with other musicians).

That's just an incorrect statement.

If that's true, then the Madonna comparisons will just hit back once she does something controversial that associates with her music.

Collabing with your contemporaries =/= limiting yourself to one genre.

I know there are a few LIVE performances, (such as the recent one with TS), but please enlighten me to others. ( where it's not lip synced like the Super Bowl).  I'm just saying that Gaga can get on a stage esp behind a piano with other musicians and improvise, and change things up.  I've been to three different concert eras of Madonna and everything is choreographed and sung (lip synced?) within an inch of its life (with little or no improvisation). It's more well rehearsed theatre than rock concert.  So no never felt that Madonna was more adventurous than Gaga.  And I'm a fan of both. I quests it just boils down to what you want out of a musician
