Ayesha Erotica 1,720
Who the hell cares? I don't understand why radio has such a hold on music. No one listens to radio anymore. To gage musics popularity by radio is ridiculous. It means 50 to 60 year old white men are telling us what's popular and what we "should be listening to." Also streaming is killing radio just as much as its killing album sales. Why should I put on the radio and wait for a song when I can listen to what I want when I want it. Billboard need to adjust the formula that it has to rank singles on the Hot100 to give radio less of the impact it deserves. I can't wait until the day cars come with Spotify, Tidal or Beats streaming service for free for the first 5 years. Good bye radio!I really like that comment."Radio" just like "TV" is a medium, owned, directed and controlled by powerful people who impose their <opinion> on the rest. There is no true choice. Radio is despotism. It is anti-indivual. People adjust their taste to a default taste. There are 100.000+ active artists in the world. Thanks to radio who plays 1% of the same artists all over again, we do not know 96-99% of them. Ayesha Erotica 1,720
Isn't "fans supporting a song" how all songs become hit singles? I try to explain it with the help of this mathematical formula: __________________________ Little fans + X = hit single X = mainstream audience has to like it very much _____________________________ Many fans + X = hit single X = mainstream audience has to like the song a bit __________________________________ A very, very, very high number of fans + X = hit single X = mainstream audience has to tolerate the song ___________________________ I hope it is understandable. Basically, yes you are right, though the more fans you have the less you need to rely on mainstream audience, a fanbase as large as Britneys can almost autonomously ensure that a song reaches the Top 20 (or better). Cupid Boy 410
What is the reason that they do not add this song in their own radio stations ?
InsideOutright 1,118
That's so rude and unprofessional... I feel bad that Britney has hardly any radio support these days. I had a similar response from a local station when I begged for them to play Applause because they kept playing all of its contemporary hits (Roar, Blurred Lines, Wrecking Ball, Counting Stars, etc.). I now boycott that station and I refuse to listen to it on my own accord, but unfortunately many local businesses play it on their speakers. Every time I hear it I'm like "Ugh, they play (new song) but no new Gaga songs? -_-" A lot of AC and HAC stations in my area refused to add Applause. Makes me a bit worried for how they'll treat Gaga's comeback single. I did hear Pretty Girls on the radio on Monday. I'm pretty sure it was on 103.5 KTU, a New York Top 40 station. They're pretty good with supporting new singles. They're the only station in the NYC area that played G.U.Y. more than once.
