Qualle1 1,385
I t get what's difficult to understand about teleprompters They're safety nets to prevent accidental mess ups, it's not unusual to mess up when performing live e.g. Lady Gaga at The Jingle Bell Ball in 2013 messed up the Bad Romance lyric and began to sing "I want your horror" instead of "I want your ugly", so it came out as "I want your hurrugly" - if she'd used a teleprompter then that wouldn't have happened I really don't get how people are extrapolating something as small as this into "She doesn't write her own lyrics" or making it seem like Katy's up there on stage singing karaoke I'm very sorry, but I don't pay hundreds of Euros to see my favourite artist reading her/his lyrics from a bloody teleprompter during a concert! lego 44,165
It's human to make mistakes, it's a live show! At least it's suppose to be. When Gaga forgets or mixes up a word or two, it's funny and cute, she still delivers a great show. Just look at this example at 35:20 he sings "And I forgot the words I'm supposed to be singing here so long ago my darling... Oh Oh Please, forgive me..." Nothing wrong with messing up every now and then. FreePalestine

Qualle1 1,385
I have no problem, when my favourite artist is messing up the lyrics once in a while - we are all humans. But I am not here and pay hundreds of Euros for a karaoke-show! MAKE LOVE NOT WAR
Qualle1 1,385
What I think you may be mistaking what a teleprompter is used for at performances with what karaoke is No, I am not stupid! I prefer my favourite artist to mess up the lyrics occasionally instead of having a teleprompter at all. If my favourite artist is not able to remind his/her lyrics properly, he/she better rehearse more often and especially properly. That's what I have been paying my hard earned money for! Haroon 49,685
No, I am not stupid! I prefer my favourite artist to mess up the lyrics occasionally instead of habing a teleprompter at all. If my favourite artist is not able to remind his/her lyrics properly, he/she better rehearse more often and especially properly. I didn't say you were stupid And you compared it to a karaoke show in your next post anyway It comes down to the artist, some would rather do it without a teleprompter at all and don't mind messing up, others don't want to risk messing up and would like the safety of a teleprompter to save from any possible mistakes My overall point is that all the rehearsal in the world can't 100% guarantee that someone won't mess up, so I personally don't see the problem with having a teleprompter. Whether or not an artist uses a teleprompter doesn't make a difference to me as long as they're still performing well. If you mind artists using a teleprompter then that's fine, that's your preference I just hope that you and others know that artists who do have teleprompters aren't stood on stage performing karaoke There's nothing else I can say on the matter really because I've said all I've had to say on the matter and I feel like I'm going around in circles At the end of the day people will think and believe as they see fit and they're free to do so

I prefer to see my favourite artist having a little bit of trouble with mixing up the lyrics occasionally, which is only human, instead of trying to be "perfect"! Whispering 18,865
It's so easy to singa song when it's playing, but if you're try singing over instrumentals you'll find it even easier to mix up verses, I don't think it's bad to have that backup in there in case she feels she don't remember which one comes nextYes! So hard to remember all those words when the music is playing!I do wonder how all those people in community theatres and regional theatres get by without a telepromter though? How in the world do they remember all their lines and words?
Prismatic 4,789
Just so some of you guys know, this telepromter is at the end of the stage (where she does her acoustic set). Not on the main stage. My friend was at the main stage because he got regular GA and he didn't see any scene or any moment when she looked down towards the stage. I was at the tip of the triangle and Katy barely even look down at the floor for pointers. She knows her songs because she wrote them. She want the show to be perfect (without any flaws). I think the screen is also there so she knows what city she's in, so she knows how to interact with the crowd. I Only Stan For Risk Takers
Alcina Dimitrescu 1,157
Many artists do it but I also think that it's insane if you forget your own songs. It's not like she has a 30 year old career with 100 songs behind her. the multitasking that requires being in a stage like that and the distractions that come with it are plenty tho. We have seen Miley and Mike Jagger with those too. I think Lana too (thank goodness because she tended to **** up her own lyrics a lot )
JEANBO 364
If she's using this just in case she doesn't mix up something, then it's totally fine.

How horrible! I bet that meant the whole shoe was ruined for many fans. How could Gaga let this happen?! Messing up lyrics is the worst thing ever! I can't believe that would ever happen to Gaga, out of all the hundreds and hundreds of times she has performed. Did people want their money back? Katy is so smart, she makes sure she gives a perfectly presented show, and that's what everyone is spending their money on, after all!!

I wasn't saying that it was a horrible mistake, I was just referring to a time where having a teleprompter could've prevented a little mistake Mistakes with lyrics/verses can happen to anyone and they aren't a big deal at all of course Some people would rather just not even risk it though, maybe it's a perfectionist thing
