The Prodigy's Liam Howlett has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to produce music for both David Bowie and Madonna.

Speaking to Mojo, Howlett explained that despite "some great chats" with Bowie, he declined an offer to produce his music.

"If it was Chuck D asking I would have done it, but they didn’t mean anything to me,” he said. "I remember Bowie coming into the dressing room when we did gigs together in Germany, we had some great chats about d--gs and stuff. He was someone I gained a lot of respect for very quickly."

Howlett also revealed that he turned down a production request from Madonna, despite signing to her Maverick label in the US.

"One thing I will say about Madonna is, she took the initiative herself to come and find us," he explained. "I thought that was respect, so we signed to her label in America."

The group released their sixth studio album, 'The Day Is My Enemy', earlier this year with the album going on to become their sixth consecutive Number One.

The band have since bemoaned the current political climate of the UK, suggesting that the country needs "more interesting characters". Speaking in the new issue of NME, which is on newsstands now and available digitally, the band stated that they wouldn't vote for any of the current political parties.

"They're all crooks and they're all liars, and they're all just people trying to keep their jobs," said vocalist Keith Flint. "I wouldn't vote for any of them."

Howlett added, "We need some more interesting characters. If we had Arnie [Arnold Schwarzenegger], I might vote. Someone with a good haircut. The parties are so close to each other now, there's not even much distance between them."

Elsewhere in the interview, the band discussed the possibility of their retirementfor the first time, admitting that the band is "gonna come to an end at some point".

"I think that the band's gonna come to an end at some point," Flint told NME. "And it's got to be soon. It will end before we want it to because of the realities of age." Speaking of their advancing ages (the group are all in their forties), Howlett added, "There comes a point where you don't want to be Uncle Alan at the wedding reception."

Now watch people praise him for denying Madge but shading for doing the same thing to Bowie

I do not think they are actually sour about it, Prodigy has a great catalogue of hits and Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up was a smash. They have made good music since the early 90s so they most certainly are not bitter for having a long lasting career either.

The Prodigy are legends themselves.

Already in the scene long before Calvin Harris learn how to work a turntable. :sharon:
