craig 680
The next album, to me, will show if she is truly "over" with the general public or if she still has them. Gaga could struggle commercially again and still come back to imperial status. Look at Kylie in the 1990's - she put out several interesting albums which showed growth and kept fans interested, but pop was out of fashion and she didn't truly slay again until 2000 (after 6 years with no top 10 UK hit). Then she got 16 straight top 10 hits in a row.
Karandr 150
No, I'm concerned too. I mean, it's not keeping me up at night, but when I think about it, I do get a bit worried for her. I think the next album is crucial. It really needs to be executed well, and she needs consistency. The failings of the past era need to be directly addressed This fanbase is so black and white about everything. You can be concerned without being doom and gloom, and you can be optimistic without being delusional.
giskardsb 12,565
Her label pays her to produce music ... plus they advertise ... set up connections for concerts ...Plus , if she does well with sales, its kind of a guarentee that she will make more music in the future. Musicicians who don't sell generally stop making music since they can't get anyone to produce for them.Labels don't pay artists anything. They give them an advance to record which the artist pays back out of their royalties. The label distributes and the artist and the label take their cuts of the profit. These days the label even gets a cut of touring and endorsements. The labels job is distribution and marketing. Live Nation does the concert work, not Interscope. And real musicians never stop making music. Gaga doesn't require pop producers, she could do more traditional music without requiring some electronic pop producer to do it. Thousands of musicians make and distribute music on much lower budgets than Gaga. Gaga will only stop making music if she loses the will to do it. She doesn't have to be the "it" girl in order to continue as a musician.People who stop making music because they can't find a pop producer to work with them are not musicians, they are pop stars. codymonster 8,595
ARTPOP didn't do that bad tho How do people not get this yet? Most artists could only DREAM of having album sales and tour sales like that..
tokyoghettopuss 45
Tbh i dont care, she has enough money and id love her to go in a iamamiwhoami/lykke li mix direction with an audiovisual album and change the game again, ARTPOP was so flat and felt really old appart from ARTPOP the song itself, venus and mjh. Nicole 1,809
For me, popularity isn't an issue for me anymore. But, at the end of the day this is Gaga's job - it's her source of income. I think she is taking a right turn to, not basic commercial music, but maybe more relatable - theme wise - in order to increase her commercial success for now not least. It does seem that she has chosen to work WITH interscope to create an album that her dedicated fans and the general public will both enjoy without compromising the quality of the music. Michael 533
Ugh, blah blah blah.Just enjoy the ****ing music. I became a fan of Lady Gaga way before the majority of the general public had ever even heard of her, long before she was selling millions and millions of albums. Did I care then? No. Do I care now? No.I like her music. I like her. As long as she releases a great album, which I don't doubt, it's a win-win situation for me.
JazzGa 14,621
Who cares how she charts Bjork doesn't play on the radio and she still puts out albums regularly and has couture fashion and conceptual, high-dollar music videos. Gaga does not need #1s in order to keep being Gaga. Why do yall care so much about what the basics think My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <
Sister 9,907
Gaga will never be over, she will always be into music and already has lifelong fans and that is all that she needs. She does not have to be top 40 to have a lasting career, she has already made it.Do not fret honey! The future's uncertain and the end is always near. What I've been trying to say in these threads for 10 million years. Geez it's like these people have never liked a musician who doesn't play on the radio. I'm fine with stanning for the #1 popstar in the world OR an obscure cult hit, are you? Battle 4 Ur Life 6,713
OMG NO. Just NO. Gaga's next album it's completely UNLIKELY to be regarded less than ARTPOP was. And if the American GP doesn't buy it, whatever, she'll still be International. And who cares even? I want quality not quantity. This thread is just insane. “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
Iwontell 7,312
I get why you feel like that and I really feel that if she's unsuccessful with her nest album she's going to be force into becoming a different act (after all, fashion, big music videos and huge tour stages cost a lot of money)...having said that, I know I'll probably like her no matter what, so I'm not that worried (hoping for the best, sure, but not worried). Truth be told, most artists I enjoy (like 98%) are not big commercial successes - or at least haven't been for a while - and that doesn't keep me from loving them... ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
