Somewhere women don't have the same rights as men and acid is thrown in their face for wanting an education. But here we are dying over the fact that someone's armpit hair is criticized.

A man would get criticized for having armpit hair if it wasn't trimmed and just all over. But there are no such cases because first of all men don't usually show off their armpit hair in award shows and wherever.

Don't act as if male bodies aren't criticized and policed.

Nobody in here was dismissing the fact that "somewhere" women are being treated horrible.
That doesn't mean it's not unfair that women in our society are being judged for having hair? :awkney:

Of course male bodies are criticized as well. I don't think anyone in here said that no male body was ever criticized. But that's not exactly the point of this thread. The point is that Miley Cyrus has hair and some people call it gross when they wouldn't say the same thing about a man.

I'm not judging people who say it looks gross on both s-xes, I'm also not judging people who think it looks gross on Miley because she is a woman and it makes her look "manly" or whatever, when that is what they think... I am only kind of judging people who say that, not because it is their own opinion, but because society says it. I am judging people who just blindly follow society's views without thinking about them.

I'm not trying to attack anyone in this thread, btw. Just saying, some people have actualy opinions, and some people only think Miley looks gross because society said so. And those people are the ones who kind of give me a hard time.

Can we have a moment of silence to show our appreciation for this gorgeous specimen? :flutter:

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

So you're saying whenever you have a problem you never complain/talk about it because someone somewhere has it worse off than you? Just because there are bigger issues doesn't mean this isn't allowed to be discussed.

Once again, here comes a male wading in on an issue concerning females and trying to make it all about men again lol.

You know full well if Miley was on a beach and had paparazzi photos taken of her with armpit hair on full show we'd still be having this conversation. We do live in a superficial world where bodies of all people are held to a high standard, but this thread is about something very specific. Men are not scrutinised for having armpit hair, even if it's a turn off for some people it doesn't turn into a headline and generate an onslaught of criticism, does it?

Here comes a sjw making an issue concerning everyone just about women. And don't give me the '' men don't get criticized about having armpit hair '' because I'm talking about this in a larger scale.

3rd wave feminism only cares about feminism in the western world, that is it. The kind of feminism that affects them. You are taking away attention from places it is ACTUALLY NEEDED. Now if you are going to compare this with the issues regarding the LGBT community, I'll say a big **** you because women don't have it worse than the LGBT community, and we are still struggling.

But it hasn't made headlines, so your point is moot. If I walked in to a ceremony and had to give a speech/accept an award, hell yeah I would shave my pits if I had to show them! Sure, I acknowledge that people generally think '' ew '' about women having body hair, but people are making a mountain of a molehill, they really are.

Men would be scrutinized for having unkept pits, it wouldn't be a big OMG SCANDAL as this seems to be but of course they would. We would all think '' ew gross trim it '' but you are correct, it wouldn't make a headline. But I don't see this being a big important headline either. And I don't think this is comparable to onslaught of criticism.

Well good for you for talking about it on a larger scale but that's not what everyone else was discussing here so maybe if you wanna talk about that start a new thread. Until then, keep your post relevant. And you can try and use demeaning names for me like SJW but that doesn't devalue what I'm saying. This doesn't concern men because they don't get called disgusting and attention seeking for naturally growing hair on their body.

Who the hell was talking about the LGBT community? You literally just started an argument with yourself.

And it has been made into a news story, hence the one in the OP, and... oh I dunno, just these 138,000 that I found on Google https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C5AVSZ_enGB553GB553&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=miley+cyrus+armpit&tbm=nws Over body hair.

This isn't about unkept though. Who's saying: "Wow Miley's armpit hair is a bit scruffy she should think about cleaning it up a bit." ? All I see in this thread and on Twitter for example is "EWWWW DISGUSTING ATTENTION *****" etc etc. You absolutely cannot deny that someone like Nick Jonas or whoever else is a similar age to Miley's and male could flash hair under their pits and receive as much flack for it as she has.

Women are to blame for these double standards too.

Just pointing that out for everyone, not saying you don't know.

No women are just so used to men saying that this is the standard that it's become the norm. What do you think people did before razors?

Why do so many (not all) LGBT people have an obsession with being the worst off? All I see is 'well homophobia is a bigger issue than s-xism' and 'black people don't have it as bad as us gays' when in reality everyone has their own problems, and the sooner you and every other ignorant person who makes those comments realises this, maybe we can spend our time and efforts fixing these problems instead of playing the damn victim.

Women DO have it quite bad actually, I'm quite disgusted by your comments. To imply that women are not still struggling is completely stupid. Since when did you become spokesperson for women everywhere on what their struggles are like? Disgusting.

I don't doubt the LGBT community have struggles. Argue your point again when you spend some time living life as a woman, maybe then you'll understand what you're actually talking about.

The majority of girls (here in the U.S.) shave because they want to/they want to be what men find attractive. If more women refused to conform and helped break down gender roles then Miley wouldn't be getting a second glance and it would open up other avenues of change. To single handedly blame men for the common belief that women should shave is ridiculous. Women promote shaving all the f*cking time. Instead of sitting around blaming men for everything be the change you wish to see. Not just you, because you seem like you have your head on straight and are probably more educated on gender roles and stuff than I am. I see so many females bashing Miley or any other females for breaking out of the mold that they are put in not only by men but other females as well. Females are the ones I see wearing bucket loads of make-up and judging others when they don't do the same. Females are the ones I see advocating fake nails, fake hair, fake eyelashes, fake lips etc. Yes, there are a lot of guys who like that stuff on females, but females are the ones that are wearing those things. I'm not trying to imply any of that is bad, I'm just trying to make the point that these "standards" and "norms" aren't just put in place and kept in place by males.

"Women are just so used to men saying that this is the standard..."

No, women also say this is the standard and continue to enforce that it is. I feel bad for all of the girls out there that grow up insecure with the person they are naturally. All of the girls that feel uncomfortable leaving the house not all made up and caked up. Not to mention all of the females that struggle with letting guys seeing them without their makeup on and hair straightened. That sound like such a sh*tty existence.

Again, this isn't directed at you in particular so please don't take it that way. This is speaking in a very general way and I don't know you at all. If I said something out of line or in the wrong way please let me know. I'm always looking to improve the way I express myself.

My point was that women have the same attitude as men today because it's become normal for women to think the same way as men do. When razors became a thing women didn't think it was desirable. After years and years, women now accept it as a standard. I hope I'm making sense.

Give women more credit. Feminist positions are in the minority among women on a lot of issues. It's insulting BS when radicals try to dismiss majority female opinion as patriarchal brainwashing. My experience is that mothers, girlfriends, and wives influence the fashion and aesthetic choices of straight men far more than the reverse.

In most cultures, women didn't show armpits in public. When it became normal, they started to shave. Male fashion generally doesn't reveal that part of the body - so they don't shave. (Also men were required by culture to shave facial hair before women were expected to shave their armpits.)

Fear not, everyone! Gaga Daily's resident misogynistic racist craig is here to grace us all with his almighty opinion! And he's telling a woman how she should feel about female rights - I'm shocked!

Nice ad hominen, but poor substitute for reading comprehension.

I not telling women anything - I'm telling SJWs of both s-xes that they don't get to insult the majority of women as brainwashed just because they disagree with radical feminist positions. Some of us have more respect for women than to see them as easily malleable victims.

"And you can try and use demeaning names for me like SJW but that doesn't devalue what I'm saying."

It's not opinions that make someone a SJW, it's the venomous attitude revealed in your above response.
