to my recollection it was censored i think because she didn't want the explicit sign on the cover, treating the 2 different covers as actual pieces of art (or at least something to that extent) and also to be able to market the album to more people (younger audiences, etc. as people have already mentioned).  i remember reading something bout her saying she hated the explicit sign on the cover but again, i was pretty new here and it may have just been assumptions/rumors

i do remember people petitioning and sending complaints to release the uncensored versions to the point that we eventually got the explicit version first on iTunes.  the japanese and i think australian versions come uncensored, and the digibook version sold in europe are also uncensored (i double checked prior to buying it to make sure its explicit)

Some retailers refused to carry "explicit" albums in the US, so her label decided to just to Disney it up. Otherwise her physical sales would have gone to sh*t.

Also I recall somebody saying that labels usually don't want their pop artists who are still establishing themselves to have that "explicit" stamp on the cover because potential conservative buyers would be like "H E DOUBLE HOCKEYSTICKS NO, THIS GIRL DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 2 ALBUMS OUT AND SHE'S ALREADY CURSING LIKE A SAILOR? I'M CALLING THE MANAGER OF THIS WAL-MART ABOUT THIS DARN-DIDDLY MESS. THIS YOUTH NOWADAYS, GET A JOB"

U can tell that's edited the volume jumps up when she says b---h & it's probably taken from another acapella edited

I think it sounds legit tho. I think people believe it's fake because they're so used to the censored version that the explicit version sounds unnatural to them.

It's not that, I edit & listen to enough audio to know if they mastered an explicit version that one word wouldn't randomly increase by a decibel randomly & horse**** wouldn't be censored still. I'm 100% sure explicit versions don't actually exist & they were made like that BC scheiße was uncensored

The original version, the lyrics in the second verse are supposed to be "broken hearts of all my f*cked up friends",but they replaced the line with "wrecked up friends" instead. IMO the original line is better and I'm really sad that we've never gotten a studio version of Speechless uncensored with this line intact.

It's in the demo version

That's something always bothered me too

When I got TFM physical I hated to hear BIT instead of BITCH and there's a line on Monster that doesn't make sense when it's censored

So I had to illgeally download the Explicit version :laughga:
