​its weird how they were talking about the placement on the album in late 2012, basically an entire year before the album came out and she still had dozens of other songs to make the cut and was still writing and recording

​my point is that she somehow was sure that song would be on the album, regardless of what the label thought. and also because she had another 50+ songs lined up at that time (she would have written all 70-100 songs yet because she kept writing throughout 2013)

​it's not uncommon for artists to record so many songs (70-100) for an album. MJ was known to record 120-200 songs per album...Thriller was the exception...MJ, Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton wrote and recorded up to 900 songs for it...and narrowed those down to the 9 final songs on the album.

way back around the time ARTPOP was released and when AP act 2 was a thing, i searched through gagas twitter and insta and watched old interviews and i followed her song-hinting techniques and managed to put together a list of 55+ song titles for ARTPOP and they ALL CAN BE BACKED UP

Such an interesting concept Demo. It proves that Applause was always meant to be on ARTPOP which is very obvious, the song feels to be one of the very first songs Gaga visioned for the album.
