They cause commotions in the comment sections of articles, disrupt serious discussions and make them all about themselves. In Russia, appearently select people are getting paid to spread online propaganda for Wladimir Putin. A young woman residing in St. Petersburg outed herself and talked about the work that brought her roughly 800 euros per month. "Putin is a genius!", "The Ukrainians are fascists!", "Europe is decadent!". Ljudmilla Sawtchuk was Putin's paid online activist for two months, up till March 2015. "Our job consisted in writing in favor of the Russian government, to praise Putin and his agenda and to trash talk his opponents" says the 34-year-old Russian mother of two. Her field of activity consisted of forus, newsgroups, chatrooms and blogs. She wrote more than one hundred posts per day under the alias of a regular housewife, student or athlete. Her work was rewarded with a monthly pay of roughly 40,000 to 50,000 rubel (approx. €800/750$).
