  1. 1. Are you here for a concept album featuring a character played by Gaga?

    • Yes! That would be awesome!
    • Umm... No thanks... I'll pass on this idea.

I think it worked in the past because she was so mysterious. She could pull off Candy Warhol. She's a bit more vocal about her personal life now. I just don't want her to get carried away with it (which she does often), and it becomes cringeworthy to watch. Personally, I don't see anyone outside the fanbase being interested in the idea nowadays, so her commercial-success stans will be furious.

hmm. I'm not sure she could pull it off without the world still trying to cling to "Lady Gaga," like how everyone kind of rejected that symbol Prince was trying to use back in the 90s. People don't usually take well to name changes.

At the same time I think the idea has potential to be a great thing for her to explore, since I sometimes wonder if she's unintentionally written herself into a corner because she's taken this persona as far as it can possibly go. I often wonder the same thing about Lana Del Rey and Janelle Monae. Then again, it's arguable to say that Stefani and Lady Gaga are one and the same now, or that she doesn't care about crafting a character anymore has set out to make the best music she can possibly make.

I do think if she were to create another character the music would have to be nothing less than great. She could also do a movie (which would also have to be handled well) and have the music be a companion to that, as I think material stemming from her playing a movie character would make the transition smoother and easier to accept. Constantly giving interviews as whatever character she comes up with would probably be best avoided as that could just become tedious (see Jo Caldrone).

I see your point with the name change, that's why I also made the option for an "altered" Lady Gaga. Similar to what she has done with Paparazzi/Telephone. She could create an entire album, potentially even a visual album featuring Lady Gaga in these exaggerated, alternate worlds.

This could potentially sort of trap her within this persona though, as you mentioned, so potentially a Lady Gaga presents: _______ type album could work. Making it clear that Gaga is the creator of this character and treating it as if she where an actress in a musical.

Keeping with, and building on the Lady Gaga "brand" but allowing her some freedom to write for another character and exist in this world. I remember Gaga mentioning for TFM she wrote pretending she was another artist, I'm sure she could write for another character.

I think it's an interesting idea, but I'm here for quality regardless of how it looks at the end of the day :)

Schwerk

I don't like the idea for the next album, because I like how the public finally seems to realize Gaga is a real woman, with a big voice and a big heart to match. Not just a fabricated wacky soulless popstar.

I would love a pure but experimental popalbum, with Gaga transforming as she has before in previous 'era's' I feel she's less misunderstood and doing what she always did changing her looks all the time, could finally be more appreciated by the public. Than for the album after that she can experiment even more with a persona like you suggested.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

That sounds like a good idea since I love the idea of her doing a musical and going all out visually. She would be the ideal artist to pull off a Purple Rain or a Tommy. It's a way of doing a visual album, without technically doing a visual album. She could put it on YouTube and/or license it to Netflix as to avoid any negative trappings that come with a general movie release and present it basically as a companion to the album.

lol, I wasn't initially sold on the idea, but I'm liking it more and more...
