What if... Madonna had been nice back then?

Madonna wouldn't be such a flop now.

By enabling her fans into an army of hate, she got some attention for her album back in 2012. However, long-term? She lost A LOT of fans, as evident by her low sales and everyone making fun of her desperate attempts to stay relevant.

The interview wasn't as bad as what she did on tour.I get it that she wanted to call her out for copying her.She didn't do it in the best way possible during this interview but i can't really blame her for this. But what she did with the EY/BTW medley and the backdrops was pure ****

"No, i don't think she's copying me, cause she's she and i'm me" - in the same interview.

"I actually like her, i think she's very talented" - Graham.

Evil b---h!

I didn't know about that. I'm not painting Madonna as an evil b---h though, I'm just saying that by stating that "reductive" comment, she gave media and fans a reason to paint her as one.

She totally ****ed herself over with those comments, Gaga too imo.
Her fans went absolutely rabid over it, like ive never seen such dedicated hatred by fans. It was as if by Madonna saying that, that her fans took that she had somehow approved attacking and obsessing over Gaga.
Not to mention that a lot of people that I know that hate Gaga, thought Madonna's comment was mean and stupid and said it put them off her.

Then that ridiculous mashup on her tour to maximize the publicity. Such bull****.

About the mash up, it was meant to be comedic, not an attack, maybe if Gaga was an actual Madonna fan like she always stated she would have picked up on her unique sense of humor, Madonna was always like this.

Back in the 80s when she was accused of copying MJ, she did the exact same thing. its a commentary on the media presented in a comedic manner

But of course, according to Gaga daily logic, a woman who devoted a big porrtion her life as an equal rights activist before it was hip and popular to do so, a woman who helps building education in economically weak countries is evil because she didn't sugar coat her opinion on a specific situation that happened to involve your precious mommy fave.

Yeah and Madonna has been getting MORE attention for 30 YEARS by shading other artists or doing controversal things

Yet look where that has got her in the end. Taylor's first week of her latest album outsold the US total of Madonna's last two albums combined. Since Ray of Light she has only been living off her own legacy and what she accomplished in the past

I would have discovered more of Madonnas music sooner and been less jaded towards her. To be honest she might have been able to get a lot of little monsters to also Stan for her if she had went about everything the right way. But alas she genuinely thought gaga copied her so I can't blame her for being upset/throwing shade. I would have too.

I'd say after Hard Candy, not after Ray of Light.

Music, American Life & Confessions were all fantastic records.

If she did things oppositely and was friendly with Gaga, even collaborated with her, I think she would have done better commercially with MDNA & RH. I feel like it's only just now that a lot of young Gaga fans are actually looking into Madonna's past work and discovering that she actually has an amazing discography, instead of seeing her as a bitter old hag or whatever.

Having Gaga's fan-base on your side surely couldn't be a bad thing, and them coming together after all the BTW accusations would make big headlines.

Ok, that's true. I always forget that American Life and Hung Up happened. :smh:
