RainingOnMe 7,280
This whole culture is going in such a wrong direction, by over-a--lyzing stuff like this, racism will never go away, and we'll never be all equal sadly.
SISTERV 3,887
and? sass & mannerisms are to do with attitude not race, i swear lately african-americans assume they invented or own everything in white culture. hate to say it but Ferguson got alotttt of black people in America thinking they invented ****in everything from dancing to singing to musical production to the ****ing shoe and then the President gives them a thumbs up to be mad that there was apparently police brutality so they get revenge by pillaging and destroying and looting their entire own city ...not to mention Azealia Banks extensive comments that all white people should pay reparations for slavery. Tropico 4,145
I actually prefer thread titles like that, but that's just a trivial detail I suppose. On topic, this was big in the news, or at least on the internet, about 6 months or so ago. Cultural/sub-cultural appropriation is a massive talking point and the reason for a lot of discussions. I don't think I know enough on the subject to comment as of yet, so I'll stay in my lane. MARRY ME We neeed more people thinking this way. It is imperative to the social justice movement. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

OMG YOU DIDN'T DID YUOU STEAL THAT FROM THE WHITE RACIST BOOK? Mess. I live in a predominant African American neighborhood and most of my friends ARE black. I'm like....GIRL MY ANCESTORS CAME OVER HERE ON ELLIS ISLAND 50 years after slavery, but thanks for assuming that my family were slave owners EXACTLY! i mean yes it was a tragic event, i feel extremely bad & i would never dare to be hateful towards ANYONE due to their race & i support them in their fight back against racism. That being said, why do they assume they aren't privileged as opposed to a lot of other black people in the world, when they live in the first world, where they have the freedom to even voice their negative opinions towards government & police brutality, and they have homes & jobs & money as opposed to say; the majority of Africa's population

I swear lately white people lately think taking an important part of a minorities's culture and adding their own twist to it is but not giving credit to their original inspiration is the most fun thing ever. It works both ways. OP, this should've been in CA so you could've added a serious tag. Ngl Idgaf whether they get angry or not, I'll use the terms and phrases I WANT to use, it's getting to the point where it's not even cultural appropriation, it's just extra tbh Ummm sure just take an important part of ones heritage, background and culture and do your own thing with it. It's not like it could possibly offend them. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

It would be one thing to outright copy but language evolves all the time.....that's why we have different languages, accents, etc. People adopt language all the time. And I doubt gay people are doing it to hurt black women.
Dunk96 2,526
This dates as far back as the documentary Paris Is Burning. It's been a thing for over thirty-fifty years amongst gay men and people are now starting to have an issue with it? There are certain black people who are the most important people in my life (Michael and Janet Jackson for one) and I'm not appropriating anything doing what I do and how I act. This generation is the most f*cked.
