Whispering 18,865
I dont think writers get paid continuously do they? I thought they just get paid once they hand over a song and thats the end of itYes, they do. Songwriters make money in three ways: Mechanical Royalties (album sales, digital downloads, streaming services), Performance Royalties (radio play) and Synchronization Royalties (licensing to TV, Films, Ads). jojuun 4,159
The % of revenue from streams going to the artist really isn't going to matter if people don't use Tidal. And what is Tidal's main distinguishing feature from its competitors? Lossless quality. That's great for Audiophiles who have the mobile speeds and data plans to be able to use a lossless streaming service, but that's a very small market, so the money artists get from Tidal streams are going to be nothing compared to the money they get from Spotify, even if they're getting lower % per stream. But that's the entire point, it will be more attractive to join TIDAL in the future because artists will release their albums first on Tidal. They will also have additional content for their fans such as in-depth interviews, HD videos, custom playlists and backstage footage no one else has. Also, all of the artist's social media is included in the app, making it almost a 360° experience with your favorite artists. The more people will realise the benefits of Tidal over Spotify, the more users it will attract. It's also in constant development as the first speaker at the conference said. It's always changing, so it's a lot more exciting than waiting for a Spotify system update.

Ahh. Always wondered how that worked.
TEANUS 15,881
The keep saying all they care about is the art, not the technology or the money, when in fact, you have to use technology to access the service, and let's face it, half or more of these people are here cause their money hungry and are pressed that Spotify doesn't pay them that much I can see people flocking to this but hen getting tired of it very quickly, kind of like Flappy Bird tbh British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
Juanjo 2,233
I support their argument, and wish them a lot of success, but I don't like the dark tone of the video. The background music is very eerie. Why not a lighthearted approach? Anyway, we'll see how it all turns out.

"Revolutionary" "Courageous" "Brave" WTF were those promos!? It's just another businessWasn't that Born This Way's promo tagline? Don't come for ALL of these artists who all do amazing charitable work outside their careers when thousands of people have questioned Gaga's support of the LGBTQ community and other causes. I don't, but posts like yours are the reason why no one likes this damn fanbase. Foolishness.
