What makes The Fame Monster era "dark" to you? Was it really dark?

The imagery, production of the songs, the way everybody else's eras at the time were all bubbly and cute...

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

The imagery, the feeling of the music, the lyrics, the album cover.

Gurl pretty much everything, are you serious?

Have you seen Alejandro? Bitch went full emo gore on that one.  And the rest of The Fame Monster's lyrics are quite obscure as well. Teeth, Monster, So Happy I Could Die... It may hadn't had ****ty synthers but it was a dark era.

just watch the videos... telephone is the most colorful, and the one with the most um generic or basic lyrics yet the video has a dark plot and the lyrics have a double, dark, meaning. In fact, It's my personal favorite Lady Gaga song+video.

It seems so dark compared to the Fame era. She went from wearing a bubble dress with cute hair and songs about dancing to looking anorexic, and having gothic, religious imagery, in the Alejandro video

I loved Gaga's whole persona. I don't mean that she is putting on a persona, but the way that she carries herself, her mannerisms, etc.

I liked the straight face and the growl with the paws up and Gaga was pretty much a mystery where we only saw the outside -  what she wore, her makeup, etc. For example, her Xfactor UK performance. She truly was an enigma.

But since Born This Way she opened up more and we got to see a whole new side of her. It's good how she became close like our best friend. But sometimes the mystery made the bond so much more special. For example, the Artrave was awesome because we were so connected, but the Monster Ball was better because she was putting on a show and creating a world just for us.

I love Gaga and everything she does but I'm nostalgic for the past.

The whole mysterious 'act' was confusing me sometimes as well at the time. I remember I often wondered if she was overworked or depressed cause she didn't look happy to me and so skinny. A big change from the bubbly Fame girl. But I loved how serious she was. So focussed.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Imagery/Visuals

Like everybody said, everything was colorful & bubbly, see Britney, Katy Perry, N. Minaj (her pop videos) everything was 'super cute', girly & corny

Then she came with her dark interludes, videos, some of her music (Bloody Mary, Dope, Judas, Dance in the Dark), the FAME perfume promo, and she earned a lot of metal fans 'cuz some bands did covers of her songs, idk, she is not the tipycal pop girl, maybe that's why i fell in love with her, Marry the Night, Alejandro, Judas, BTW, BDR.

She just doesn't give a **** if she looks pretty

And that's why i used to like Natalia Kills, her visuals on her videos (Trouble, Problem, Wonderland, Saturday Night) are ****ing awesome, but her music is pretty girly & kinda basic so.. she really never got me

BTW was darker.  Bloody Mary, HML, the entire vibe of the album was generally dark, which is why it's so brilliant to me.  Gaga is best as the dark anti-pop star.

It wasnt. Just the imagery in parts due to religious iconography.

Telephone can't be considered dark.
