Lily is my fave don't get me wrong but imo pretty good for an artist of her caliber is top 5 or higher. It was her third studio album (but we must keep in mind her long hiatus).

Lily debuted at #5 with "It's Not Me, It's You." Which means she had a bit of a misstep with Sheezus. I have faith she can make more good music, and I'm sure she will get a top 5 album again but I don't think she will ever have a number one album in the U.S... Which is awful :noparty:

But Lily isn't that big in the US and never has been. It's Not Me, It's You debuted in the top five, but she promoted the hell out of it in the US. Sheezus had a couple of TV appearances in the US but that was it for the most part. An artist of her caliber who was never that mainstream in the US wasn't going to come back from a 5 year hiatus, with no hit single, barely any promo, and score a top five album. #12 was very respectable imo.

I don't think it's awful that she will likely never get a #1 album in the US, she isn't the type of artist that would be likely to get that anyway.

If she was Lady Gaga, yes.

But this is Marina and the Diamonds we are talking about. 45k is brilliant numbers.

I only meant it was awful because I've been such a huge fan for so long and I'd really like her to achieve commercial success worldwide

I've been a fan since the early MySpace days too  But as long as Lily serves me the bops that she always does, I'm good. Besides, in my eyes Sheezus was a hit.

Most of the songs slayed me but a few felt pretty lackluster.. Wish she put Bass Like Home on the album and took off one of the more dull tracks.

I hope she makes more politically witty songs like Insincerely Yours, HOH, and URL Badman

If you consider EH opened with like 11k, then 45k is "really good" for her when you consider FROOT leaked and she's virtually an unknown in the US.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

But some of the slower songs like Take My Place, Miserable Without Your Love, and Who Do You Love? were my faves.

Considering the team she's working with on her next album (Fryars, Lil Silva, Bipolar Sunshine) I get the feeling she's going for a more trip-hop inspired route similar to BANKS.

I didn't mean slower per say I more meant content... Take My Place is beautiful because it comes from such a deep place.. "Life For Me" or "Air Balloon" could've been bonus tracks, imo.
