Lady GaGa: Different Genre of Music, Different Look to Be Taken Seriously?

I remember when Lady GaGa filmed the Cheek to Cheek special, a few people commented that the outfits she wore (such as red leather jumpsuit and the one with the gold headpiece) were "disrespectful" to the music and they said things like "we can't take her seriously in those outfits". They thought her outfits were disrespectful to the Jazz music.
For Lady GaGa to be taken seriously when singing other genres of music (besides pop) do you think it's necessary for her to change her look? To be more "glamorous" or "normal" than avant garde/couture?

The real questions are : does she want people to take her seriously ? Do we want people to take her seriously ? And what is the point of being taken seriously ?

I think Gaga has been over being taken seriously since  a while ago

Just this.

"I tend to reflect my fashion with my mood. During ARTPOP my mood was kind of a mess. It was erratic. I was shape shifting on a daily basis trying to find my happiness. With Cheek to Cheek, it’s totally different. I’m in a serene place. I feel I’m my peaceful, young musician self. I’ve been enjoying dressing up, and you know, feeling like a lady. I had been working with Tony for two years recording, and [when we started] I was quite blond, but I found the s-xuality of it all to be quite distracting. It was unnatural in a way. So I began to experiment with the hair that I had back in high school. It was dark and curly. More natural. Something about jazz makes me not care about the way I look."

The only genre she can be respected in by a general public, I think, is hard rock, maybe leaning a bit more to the heavy metal side. Great female rock/metal vocalists are absolutely respected by the rock/metal community and I can imagine that her "cool" status will really rise a lot because of that.

If she goes for a more rock 'n roll party girl kinda look, mixed with some typical rock 'n roll glamour I think people will really start seeing her in a completely different light, that is if they don't accuse her of appropriating rock culture because her pop career ended in tragedy.

Well it's not like her wardrobe was really matching the current pop-scene when she came into the picture. She pushed that boundary. She could do the same for other genres too.

As for jazz, I find it strange that people think it's disprespectful. If anything, most of her jazz outfits are very old-fashioned and somewhat lack a certain s-x-appeal (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

it depends on ur definition of heavy metal tho really, bc if it's what i'm thinking she'd lose A LOT of fans, especially her gay fans who only like plastic pop.

If she did grunge like Nirvana or alternative like artic monkeys (i know that's not heavy but still) i'd be happy, i still would love for her to explore New Wave or Ambient Pop tbh

She'd lose gays for dressing more heavy metal? I don't think so...
