So, I agree with you obviously and to discount our shock at seeing Gaga as anything other than "full Gaga" is to disregard what we know Gaga to be. She is a self proclaimed master in the art of fame. She has said these things. She has always been Lady Gaga. Do people not remember? We shouldn't feel bad for this reaction, it's part of our experience of her. She wrote an entire song about this effect. Sure, part of it is just that she's human after all and we will see cracks in the facade. Sure, maybe she can't keep it up forever. But she has acknowledged this as part of her art for ARTPOP (Aura) while also asserting with her lead single that she still lives and dies by fame. So despite what she said in the past we know she intended to become more real and accessible after ARTPOP. But that's just ARTPOP. Her next move could be full gaga controlledness. I guess what I'm saying in this ramble is that this is directly what she wanted us to discuss with her messages in ARTPOP and there is good evidence this was all planned and she'll be back with a wildly different Gaga self next time. It doesn't really matter to me, because I don't see the costumes anymore. It's just clothes and art. And they way she expresses herself. Why limit yourself to one thing when you can play with all the crayons in the box? The only thing I care about is if Gaga feels comfortable and ok with herself. Of course, we all loved The Fame Gaga back then but it was obviously a very plastic looking Gaga, she was young, she was creating a brand of herself and I never really cared about her clothes or whatever she does, it's only about the music to me, so whatever makes her happy. She wanted to be the perfect artist, performer, singer, dancer, fashion icon, person. She was so extremely concentrated on being the best, she almost went crazy. She did say that she barely went outside. And it was only when she went from a building to a car. She had too many boundaries (e.g. to never appear in public without heels or in a sweatpants). This made her crazy in her mind. She did d--gs, always kept working and didn't see her friends/family. She was a caged animal. You can't keep living like this forever. We witnessed what happened.. She simply broke physically and emotionally. I guess she realized that she can live a different life and still be that perfect artist she always wanted to be.
