That is impressive considering how it leaked weeks before it came out, her making music for 20+ YEARS, not getting airplay ( ageism ) e.t.c. Other artists dream of having those sales tbh...

To all the usual haters in all Madonna threads, the fact is that she is the most purchased act of the week. End of. It's not relatable to anything else but this. I understand this must be difficult to the haters, but just deal with it.

This!!! I see all the comments about.. oh but Madonna has been in the industry for 300 years. Ok, she's been around forever... we get it. I can't name a single friend of mine that has even HEARD of ARTPOP. They've heard Applause...Do What U Want maybe, but that's it. I'd bet most of Gaga's sales were stans and I'd bet the same for Madonna on this album. If Gaga was a flop, Madonna is a flop with these sales. The question to ask is how long will Gaga's stans continue to buy albums like Madonna's do. I know i'll be here! I'm not letting Madonna's performance off the hook because she has been here longer. If or when this happens to gaga, I'll be asking where are all the monsters? I won't try to use her career as a clutch for her stans not buying the album. I know someone will bring up Taylor.. her album/music truly does appeal to the GP. I don't think a majority of her sales were stans. ARTPOP just didn't appeal to the GP so I see sales being fueled by stans. Just my opinion on the sales with the current state of the music industry. 

 

I'll leave and quit being a hater, but I did want to share some of the logic for why I have previously said this album for Madonna was not very successful.
