My ****ty father abandoned me, so let's punish gay people and their children for that.

She seems to be contradicting herself. I don't hate her for expressing herself but her words are actually making an argument FOR gay marriage. Both her mother and step mother were loving parents and she had an entire community helping her grow, a community that I am sure consisted of men as well. Meanwhile her biological father seems like an @ss.I'm sorry she feels differently, but I know many children who would have loved to have been raised in the environment she was. I see her as privileged, because she grew up loved and healthy.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

uhm, I don't really see her point? She says her dad “wasn’t a great guy,” and “didn’t bother coming around anymore.”  That sounds to me that's the reason why she has a 'hole in her heart', not the fact that her mother is gay. What if her mother didn't leave her father for a woman, but for another man? Would it have made any difference? Would that have changed the fact that her father doesn't care for her? This has nothing to do with same-s-x marriage. Girl I'm sorry, but I think you're going about it all wrong...

Even if her Mom was straight, there is good change that post-divorce she'd end up a single mom or with a less than ideal stepfather, and the writer would never get to be "daddy's little girl."

Why do I think none of you have actually read the full essay? She never said she hated her moms, what's wrong with you guys :wtf: Half of the essay is about her love and the strong bond she has with both of them and the rest of community!

And she was two when her father left them, so there's no way she remembers him at all.

Basically what she's saying is that it's not equal having two same s-x parents and both a father and a mother. She just always needed a dad even though she had 2 parents.

Here's the rest of the essay for those who actually care to read it instead of judging over the title and a few sentences and spitting on her for having an different opinion: http://thefederalist.com/2015/03/17/dear-gay-community-your-kids-are-hurting/

"There are so many of us. Many of us are too scared to speak up and tell you about our hurt and pain, because for whatever reason it feels like you’re not listening. That you don’t want to hear. If we say we are hurting because we were raised by same-s-x parents, we are either ignored or labeled a hater. This isn’t about hate at all. I know you understand the pain of a label that doesn’t fit and the pain of a label that is used to malign or silence you. And I know that you really have been hated and that you really have been hurt. I was there, at the marches, when they held up signs that said, “God hates fags” and “AIDS cures homos-xuality.” I cried and turned hot with anger right there in the street with you.

I know this is a hard conversation. But we need to talk about it. If anyone can talk about hard things, it’s us. You taught me that."

Reading the full essay suddenly makes her argument make sense? Sorry but no. Her entire argument hinges on the fact that her father abandoned her at a young age. How you feel comfortable defending someone who equates that to gay marriage is absolutely beyond me.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Wait.

Is she actually blaming same s-x marriage for her asshole fathers absence? :lmao:

Like sweety he'd ignore you whether your mom liked vajayjay or not, if he actually cared he would have stuck around, don't blame same s-x marriage for someone else's shortcomings. Like if he was not a "good guy" then he wouldn't have come around anyway :emma:

This lady is a mess, and from the description of her family and upbringing, it's not because of her family.

Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us.

Paper Planes

Her longing for a dad seems to stem from his abandonment. I'm sure her father wasn't restricted from seeing her; he just wasn't in her life. Using this theory, I could say I'm against straight marriage for having an irresponsible father.

delete it fat

I don't get it. She missed her father but they could still have had a relationship if he had been interested in it. Being divorced and still taking part in your childrens' lives is nothing unheard of. How did she reach the conclusion that she should blame it all on the same-s-x-marriage?

Are you seriously still defending her? She is still blaming her same s-x parents and gay marriage in general for her non-existent relationship with her father instead of pointing the blame where it belongs which is with her father. :awkney:

Because she's an idiot. That's all it comes down to.

I agree and support straight couples as parents above single parents and same s-x parents. Things as divorce can lead to the others but that shows the lack of being a good parent anyway.

Princess Die

I would take two loving mums over my abusive bio and step fathers. I would KILL to have been brought up that. The men my mother married are anything but. So would that be fair to label ALL fathers like that? No? Then why do you get to do that? Why do you use your experiences that have really nothing to do with gay marriage to try and deny the rights that we have fought for so long for? Your dad doesn't love you. Probably never has. He probably thinks you are a disloyal b---h now because of what you're doing.

Nod if you wanna make love with the enemy. ❤
