Not a stereotype. There are studies done by the music industry thst show this is a fact. Same goes for Country albums.

I have lived in a city my entire life, where 65 per cent of the population is not white. Schools here struggle with the fact that many children in the inner city do not have personal computers at home. They have to take different approaches for research papers and assignments than they do for schools in the wealthier sections of the city. These inner city schools are 90 to 95 per cent made up of kids from minority groups. ( not saying that there aren't tons of white kids or minority kids with PCs buying the CD or listening on Spotify too, because there are!)

There was also a study done by Country radio stations a couple of years back, that showed that their listening audience was less likely to have a computer in the home than the general population. That's why they are more likely to buy a CD than download singles or steal music. There are less Country fans, but they sure do buy some CDs, when you look at the ratios of overall music buyers.

For the record, this contributes to the numbers...it is not the only reason why the popular artists in these two genres seem to be beating the odds somewhat in this terrible music climate. There are several factors involved.

FCK you and your stereotypes just because most of this fanbase only listens To pop and female music its not all oft US.

HipHop and rap will always be in top goddamn even my mothers likes kendricks music. And she is far away From a life with guns d--gs biatches

This is some of it... but a large % of people who buy and listen to hip-hop music are white kids and adults that this description does not fit . Its not like black inner city kids (or black kids in general) contribute to an overwhelming majority of listeners/buyers. There have been studies that claim the opposite for years now. Rap continues to become more popular to white people (Eggy Egs :thetea: )

Old time rap though? That's another story

It makes me kind of sad that Madonna was genuinely excited for this era & content with her music. All the promo, all her social media interaction; I haven't seen this much effort from her in a long time. Too bad all those leaks and redundancy tarnished everything, and now the lackluster commercial response to add fuel to the fire. I bet we won't see another Madonna release in 4 years; I hope.

:lmao:

Misses #1 in US AND UK, and then plunges out of the Top 15 second week. Talk about a commercial failure.

I really hope that when Gaga reaches 50 and if she continues making music, the teen-young adult generation of the time will be better than the one of today, or she will be ****ed and struggle to sell 10k.

I'm sure this was to be expected at some level.  Usually Madonna does pretty well the first week and then drops far down.  Well,  I think that is what happened with her last album anyway.  Touring is her strong suit.  So hopefully that still does well.

Sad her numbers are so low this time around... especially with such a glorious album.... oh well, I bet many, many more heard the leaks.

She should have pushed something like a soundtrack song or maybe a feature on someone else's song to generate interest (and test the waters) before she came out with a whole new album.

Oh well, the music itself and her promo performances are a real return to form for me.

ARTPOP only dropped to  number seven the second week

ARTPOP sold an additional 100k plus pure album copies its third week. lol

People say its because the price dropped, but Rebel Heart was at $6.99 its first week on Amazon.
