Bradley 57,451
I actually think Interscope has amazing artists. Like the artists that I respect and acknowledge are mostly from Interscope. Artists which I like from other labels seem a little commercialized and Interscope has respect for originality in terms of artistry. About promotion, I think it's not up to them, it's up to their managers, and Bobby seems to be doing a great job for Gaga. I can't wait to see what he has in mind for Gaga's next pop album. It's going to be the first opportunity for Bobby to truly shine.
ShockPop 7,747
The problem is throughout the entertainment industry. Big business is more concerned with appealing to younger fans that tjey forget that older fans hold the coins.Take the wrestling industry: you work your way up to wwe and develop a fanbase by being incredible. You can do stunts unseen, you can use your body like a snake, you're a great talker and very charismatic... then you make it big and they use you to make others look good and tell you that your skills need to be downplayed to the point where new fans don't appear, nobody cares anymore and when you've elevated the chosen one, you're dropped. It's the same for recording artists. Except in music, many people have grown wise to it. Youtube has opened the doors to their repressed talents... gaga was probably the first to get the "yeah but she was great before she got signed" treatment.Interscope can handle and manipulate their less talented stars, but people like madonna and gaga just don't need the restriction. Being held back isn't what gave them superstar status in the first place.

Head Empty 24,284
Well if you ask me Gaga has been doing great since the release of C2C, and the promo was great for The Fame, The Fame Monster and a big part of BTW. Just because something isn't succesful doesn't immediately mean somebody did something wrong. If the music doesn't speak to the GP, it won't be succesful no matter what the record company does. And IMO that's exactly what the music industry needs right now; just to let the work speak for itself. For example: the album Smoke + Mirrors by Imagine Dragons barely gets any promo in terms of performances or interviews, and they had already released 3 singles even before the album dropped. And now they're quietly enjoying a decently succesful album release that fans are enjoying every day. Did they have a hit smash? No. But the album has room to breathe and the singles will just develop naturally within the charts, just like they did with Night Visions. And IMO that's great way to honor the integrity of the artist and their work. Not forcing something to go "mainstream" if it doesn't belong there, and just letting the music become whatever it is meant to become. Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺
The Child 18,997
Jive is the best? What did they do for Britney Jean? LBR most if not all major record labels are only following the market, whats trending, whats big for today, they seek profits in the end.Once in blue moon some labels makes huge profit by letting such talent as Gaga or Adele soar but not for long because they soon go with the flow again. If anything, Interscope is at worst for milking their costumers. On May 13, 2007 Reznor made a post on his blog on the official Nine Inch Nails website condemning Universal Music Group for their pricing and distribution plans for Year Zero. The full text of that post is as follows: Hidden Content After the above post, Reznor stated in an interview that he was interested in self-releasing future material: Hidden ContentOn October 8, 2007, Reznor announced that he was a free agent through a posting at both nin.com and The Spiral:"Hello everyone. I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate. Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008. Exciting times, indeed." Paper Planes 340
I feel that Interscope wants to guide the artists towards mainstream success, but then lacks faith in the artists and the carry-through when it's actually time for release. For example, look at when Lana Del Rey said that she was forced to meet with Adele's producers after Interscope executives heard Ultraviolence - the Adele producers told Interscope that they wouldn't change the record. Then they gave Ultraviolence the green light for release; they would have saved time just allowing Lana to do as she pleased. They didn't offer her much promotion spare a few billboards, either.I feel like Ellie's problem with Love Me Like You Do is due to simple lack of promotion and a few live performances. I don't think she expected the entire world to latch onto this song like they did, and she's so busy putting a new album together that she doesn't have time to offer it promotion. Now that Love Me Like You Do has blown up everywhere and Outside has become a moderate success, I'm sure her record labels across the board are pressing for her next album's lead single to be serviced to radio sometime in the spring to ride off the hype.Gwen and Fergie both are in the same boat: everyone wanted their comebacks, but neither one of them delivered mind-blowing products like they did in the '00s. Both of them had very quiet, half-assed comebacks as well; they both just released a single on YouTube/digital download and then sat back and didn't do much. Especially Gwen, who probably thought her time on The Voice would have helped in the US. delete it fat

Cody Draco 2,531
that might be in 2011-2012. Because in 2013, espcially for gaga, where a mess. To all those saying they are doing a great job: Remember when gaga said she payed and organised the GUY video all herself because interscope wounldt want a new video aftwee DWUW mess..Well why would Interscope want to pay that much money for a music video?Didn't just the rental of Hurst Castle cost $250,000 alone?I don't see why any company would invest that much into something that isn't a guaranteed profit. Klou 2,414
Your comment on Ellie doesn't make sense. She peaked at #3 in the US with LMLYD and the song is still climbing on radio and could still peak higher. And she has no album out right now lol. How is an album that's years old supposed to be getting a boost with a song that's on a soundtrack? It won't.
Ray of Light 8,134
They have too many big names to really focus and specialize on one single era and artist. On top of that; most of these artists are bigger in different markets around the world. In GAGA's case; they need more regulation like in Applause's case & less Judas / DWUW video scenarios. hmm 979
We gotta give them credit for 2011-2012.Gaga was EVERYWHERE in 2011. She was a damn promo machine! Madonna got a Superbowl spot.Azealia Banks got a lot of promo in 2012 during the 1991/Fantasea era. She had festivals everywhere, she was releasing videos a lot. She had a few interviews.Lana... Oh this hurts the most... Even an alternative artist like Lana got some good promo in 2011. :emo: thats why the masterpiece that is Born To Die is the best selling alternative album by a female artists thus decade. She had remixes a lot, performed on SNL, the iTunes festival and she performed on American Idol. I love BTD era. So yeah, they use to have drive but not so much now. I wouldn't give them credit for the Madonna superbowl though; she got the spot cus she's Madonna and could've got it any time really (she was offered it in the 90s but turned it down apparently)
