I didn't say that he had tremendous input, just that he tweaked a lyric here and there. And watch those if you don't believe me I guess

I've seen the six part documentary series. Is that what you are referring to? This information is not in that series.

Maybe this is one of those urban legend type deals that starts with someone at another site ;), and people start quoting it as a fact?

By the way, that Sondheim situation has no traction in the medias whatsoever, I think we can get over it as it will not stick in the general post-Oscar appreciation of Gaga's performance.

For reference, Idina Menzel would have done much better (from the modern age broadway stars).

No, no, no....and I love Idina! I've seen her several times on Broadway, have the music from most of the shows she has done, and have even met her a couple of times? Idina's voice is very unique, even in the Broadway world. Her voice would not have matched up well with the songs selected for the tribute.

Yes, the producers could have pulled in an experienced Broadway stars to sing these songs, but that wasn't what they wanted. They wanted something special for this particular tribute, and that is exactly what they got, as it was the most buzzed about and most positively received moments of The Oscars this year.

The producers had a vision and along with Gaga, they created a real Moment...one that will be mentioned and remembered for years to come!

No, not at all. And I don't gain anything by making stuff up. So whatever, if you don't want to believe me that's fine I guess and there's nothing I can do about it.

I'm seriously done with this discussion because it's been going on of days

Hey, I didn't say you made it up...just that it could be one of those things that people make up at other boards and it starts getting passed around as fact.

I had this recorded and went back and watched part 5, where TSOM was discussed, and I couldn't find what you are mentioning. Do you know which part of the series this information is supposed to be in?

Like I said before, I've never heard this information. I want to find where exactly it was discussed, so I can hear the story behind it.

Don't be using this thread as a vehicle to bash Idina or any vocalist. The thread is about Sondheim's opinion, not how Idina performed.

and you? keeping this mess in news when is an opinion from one person?

Shame on you Mods  bringing negativity to GGD and to Gagas performance.

If you read carefully some others are using  this thread and Sondheim's opinion to belittle and nitpick Gaga's performance.

So, you care more about Idina  than Gaga?. Have you read the thread? It's the only thing you have to say after pages of  bashing to Gaga from trolls ans haters.! GGD mods some times ugh!

Interesting observation and valid point. Isn't it funny how some here bend over backwards to protect those outside of who this site is dedicated to?

I'm still laughing at whoever said that Idina would be a better choice. Did anyone see her mediocre performance at the 2014's Oscars? Are you kidding me?

Gaga wasn't perfect, but nobody ever is. Nitpicking at this point is just ridiculous and I don't care if it's Sondheim or Tarja Turunen criticizing her semi-operatic style, calling it a "travesty" is a travesty in itself.

if that wasn't perfect then i don't know what is :spin:

Sondheim's a legend. You don't have to agree with his opinion, but don't belittle his impact on the music and theater industry just because you disagree with what he has to say.

And Gaga is a legend in the making, it's not right to belittle her as a performer and insult her hard work by calling it "a travesty" or "good for a popstar". ;)
