Sean Penn abused Madonna during their marriage in the 80s

I learned two things today:
- Madonna was married to Sean Penn.
- Sean Penn abused Madonna.

First heard of it on this Cracked article a friend posted to Facebook, stating: http://www.cracked.com/article_20560_5-beloved-celebrities-everyone-forgets-did-terrible-things.html

"Penn and Madonna would get into violent arguments all the time, and it probably didn't help that Penn drank so much every night that even Andre the Giant would've told him to slow it the **** down. Finally, in 1988, after Penn flew into a rage over Madonna's supposed affair with Warren Beatty, she called the marriage off. Penn responded by turning his abusive nutcase dial up to 11.

After he got good and drunk (again),

Penn climbed into Madonna's house, where she was alone. He then grabbed her, tied her to a chair, and assaulted her for hours, both physically and emotionally. He then went out for more booze, came back, and kept up the beating. Madonna only escaped after telling Penn that she had to go to the bathroom,

which meant he had no problem battering, beating, bloodying, and bruising the supposed love of his life, but felt it would have been too degrading to make her pee in front of him."

Their source came from "Madonna: An Intimate Biography" By J. Randy Taraborrelli: http://books.google.com.au/books?id=yj1PTnse9-gC&pg=PA155&lpg=PA155&dq=sean+penn+madonna+domestic+violence&source=bl&ots=nnxysi9M8E&sig=wS-JJX_HDgOJ_scElcAvL3_tdrk&hl=en&sa=X&ei=WqCmUdqkA4mgigfG04DYAw&ved=0CDsQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=sean penn madonna domestic violence&f=false

Then in a section of this article: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/sean-penn-charged-battery-vandalism-land-actor-jail-year-article-1.174725
"Penn was also charged with felony domestic assault during his marriage to Madonna. He pleaded to a misdemeanor."

The Seattle Times also posted an article about it, referencing the book "Madonna: Unauthorized" By Christopher Andersen, stating: http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19911106&slug=1315618

"On June 6, 1986, Sean Penn and Madonna got into a heated public argument at a Manhattan nightclub called The Pyramid. There, a fight erupted into violence as an obviously inebriated Penn shoved his wife up against a wall, then carried their shouting match out into the street.

In the beginning Madonna had been willing not only to overlook Penn's violent streak but to tacitly endorse it, so long as his fury was directed at strangers, such as the press, whom Penn seemed to attack as a matter of routine.

Now that he was assaulting friends such as songwriter David Wolinski, whom Penn had beaten up outside a club called Helene's because Madonna had embraced him, and abusing her in public as he had done at the Pyramid Club, she was becoming concerned for her own safety.

Three days later Penn, frustrated and drunk, staked out the Malibu house. Around 4 p.m., after Madonna had given her small household staff the rest of the day off, he scaled the fence encircling the estate, broke into the house and confronted a terrified Madonna. After slapping her around, he bound and gagged her, then strapped her to a chair with twine. He berated and beat her for two hours, then stormed out of the house.

Gagged, tied up and trembling with fear, Madonna waited for hours for help to arrive. Incredibly, Penn returned, swigging tequila, and began tormenting her all over again. This time, she managed to persuade him to untie her. Once free, she dashed out of the house, jumped into the coral-colored 1957 Thunderbird Penn had bought her for her 28th birthday, locked the doors and called the police on her car phone. She then sped off to the Malibu sheriff's station to swear out a complaint against her husband.

A week after the incident, Madonna filed for divorce on grounds of irreconcilable differences. The same day, she met with Deputy District Attorney Lauren Weiss and told her she had decided to withdraw her complaint against Penn."

Sean Penn has a history of attacking paparazzi and has served jail time, so his violence streak is definitely real. (that information is easy to find and very accurate)

Then this article: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/02/23/twitter-turns-on-abuser-sean-penn-following-his-oscars-green-card-joke.html

"Once, in June 1987, he allegedly caused the pop superstar to be hospitalized after hitting her across the head with a baseball bat. But Madonna, who remained protective of her husband, refused to press charges since Penn wasalready facing 60 days in jail for assaulting a film extra.

Things got even uglier on December 28, 1989. According to a police report filed by Madonna, Penn scaled their Malibu home that afternoon, found Madonna alone in her bedroom, and told her that he owned her “lock, stock, and barrel.”

According to reports, “When she told him she was leaving the house, he tried to bind her hands with an electric lamp and cord. Screaming and afraid, Madonna fled from the bedroom. What followed was a nine-hour ordeal which left her deeply shaken. Penn chased her into the living room, caught her and bound her to a chair with heavy twine. Then he threatened to cut off her hair.”

He allegedly “smacked and roughed up” Madonna while she was tied to a chair, and then left for a few hours to buy more booze—leaving his then-wife bound and gagged—only to return and continue terrorizing her. He only agreed to untie her after she “agreed to perform a degrading s-x act on him,” and then fled the house, got in her car, and raced to the sheriff’s office—eventually stumbling inside.

“I hardly recognized her as Madonna,” Lt. Bill McSweeney said at the time. “She was weeping, her lip was bleeding and she had obviously been struck.”

Penn was charged with felony domestic assault, but Madonna told the DA to drop the charges against him. He eventually pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, and the pop star split from Penn shortly thereafter."

(that article says she fled after telling Penn she'd perform a s-x act, others state it was because she told him she had to pee)

A list of crazy **** Penn has done: https://books.google.com/books?id=dxc0bdbkkfEC&pg=RA1-PT134&lpg=RA1-PT134&dq=sean+penn+fires+at+helicopters+during+his+wedding&source=bl&ots=T_-X63e_U3&sig=aNKISHPrfYH8rhsbHgImjks9-nQ&hl=en&sa=X&ei=nOgCVYPaKsLXgwT94IPgCA&ved=0CEsQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=sean penn fires at helicopters during his wedding&f=false

Found a scanned Newspaper article about Penn's attack on Madonna http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1290&dat=19911114&id=wvVTAAAAIBAJ&sjid=z4wDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5782,6965527

But, in an interview with Barbara Walters, the former James Bond said he doesn’t think slapping a woman every now and then is a big deal.

I AM UTTERLY DISGUSTED :wtf: :messga: WHAT EVEN?

Poor Madonna... She was so defensive of a man who was always on the offense.

Abusers are the scum of the world. I hate them. Honestly. HATE them.

Madonna seems to have bad taste in men. Sean Penn had a temper problem and Guy Richie was quite domineering too. Maybe relates to her taste for S&M.

She had a generally anngry attitude for a few years after the end of each marriage.

I knew there was physical violence in their marriage, but I didn't know it was that bad :wtf: Kinda sad that she dedicated a whole album to someone like him :noparty:

Jesse Pinkman

Read this a few weeks ago. Apparently they're friends now. I'm not justifying anything, but the '80s were a mess. I'm glad they could move forward no that they're both older.

It's science, bitch

Also now that I think about it they definitely wont pick an American to play an iconic British role.. All hell would break loose.
