It's been wonderful having two straight years of her not performing on the UK X Factor. She performs on that show every year and its been so annoying because it's the best kind of promo, she's almost always on the final and she sometimes even gets 2 spots on the show. That's a major factor for why she's so big in the UK. Then she just doesn't bother promoting herself elsewhere. I think she always got an unfair level of promotion on the show and I'm glad that she's been off our screens for a while. The show will end one day, if rumours are to be believed and the ratings keep dropping, it might only be another year or two left in it, so I have no idea how she'll promote herself then. She might actually have to *gasp* try harder. But saying all that, it has been a bit weird not having her around as she is a major pop girl and her singles are quite good, even if her albums have been awful lately. But that's precisely why she needs to keep taking breaks like this - it makes even the people most frustrated by her presence start to miss her. I have no doubt that she'll have huge obstacles ahead of her when she does come back, though. The only time she took a break for an album was Rated R, one of her biggest flops. And with the sales climate being in the pits right now, she'll have to work really hard to shift copies. Seeing as radio is starting to move away from supporting Katy, Gaga and Britney and instead focusing more on the newer stars and one hit wonders, she could face a slightly different reception after being away so long (for her). It's weird to think she'll have been around for a decade now. And that's unfortunately a time when radio and the public start moving on. She's had a great run and stuck around very long for someone with no talent (sorry, but it's true). But she's really outstayed her welcome by this point.
