I'm just fed up of the notion from straight people that I have to accept their opinion that gays shouldn't be married. Why the f*ck should I accept that? Yeah one person on a forum isn't gonna make a difference, but it's the principle, the attitude...

You wouldn't see a white man walk up to a black man and tell him he deserves less and then expect the black guy to be cool with it cos it's his "opinion". You wouldn't see a man tell a woman that she deserves less because of her gender and expect her to be fine because that's just his belief. Why should it be different for gays? Why are we expected to lay back and be okay with that idea just because a straight person says we should be? It's just BS.

Of course. But there are some things I feel you should know. Sorry I'm late but hey I'm here now. 

1) nobody here is attacking you because you're straight. You've said several times everybody is attacking you because you're a straight person on a forum with lots of gay people. That is simply not true. I am straight. I have made friends here that I hope to remain friends with for life. 

2) 'straightophobic' is not a thing. And if it was it would be called 'heterophobic'. Again, nobody here is attacking you because you're not gay. I find it offensive that you feel like you need to create a term for yourself that paints you as a victim of society when you are clearly not. Stop trying to make yourself look special. Sexism, racism and homophobia are all words because they are very real things that happen every day from a casual to severe spectrum. But bringing up racism and s-xism completely derails what the point is. 

3) you have your beliefs because your religion says you should. Fair enough. But do you follow every rule of your religion? Every single one? I think you should invest your time improving yourself so that you follow the rules of your own religion as precisely as possible instead of making a half attempt to preach here that you're a good guy but you just don't believe in marriage equality. 

4) if I could have a small sum of money for Everytime somebody says 'I'm not RACIST/HOMOPHOBIC/SEXIST, I have BLACK/GAY/FEMALE friends or family' I would be so so so rich. Guess what? Having friends who are in a certain minority group doesn't excuse you from sh*t. I don't get to use the n word because my cousin is black. I'm a white female who has not experienced anything like the racism black people face, just how you have not experienced homophobia. 

5) As a few have said already, the majority of the people against you are 'attacking' you because you did not give a reason. This is how a forum works: you discuss. That's all.

I just don't believe in gay marriage. I'm sorry, I know the site I'm on, but im straight and I just dont believe in it

I'm not a homophobe. I know some gay people, and they're cool, I just don't believe in expressing gay acts

I'm also straight and I do believe in gay marriage! We live in the 21th century, you know? Being gay is as natural as being straight so everyone should have the same rights. 

Talking about "not believing in expressing gay acts" is highly ignorant.

I know i'm late to the party but here's what i have to say.

1)I'm Gay, and no I don't respect your opinion when all you said is "Ugh" and "I just don't believe in Gay marriage".. this is discrimination and you should get called out for it, because your posts convey Homophobia.

2) Yes we can compare racism and homophobia, it doesn't matter how much one issue suffered more than the other, both are discrimination that are still ominipresent in our society and is something we have to fight.

3) For 1986, Gay people don't kill themselves because its fun, its because they are discriminated, bullied, teased, pushed to their limits, disowned by their parents, thrown out of their homes, beaten up, homophobia pushed Gay people to kill themselves, they don't see any other solution, so in a way its the people that discriminate them that kill them. 20% of the homeless youth indentify as Gay. Gay people were thrown in concentration camps or extermination camps during the WW2. Harvey Milk a gay activist was assassinated for trying to make a change.. so don't try to tell us how Gays have it easier than black people, cause we all suffer in some way.

4) Just like many others said, Gay marriage is not a question of beliefs, it is a legal right that should be acquired, How would you feel if you were together with someone for 30 years and you build your life as a couple but your partner died, and because you couldn't get legally married his homophobics parents take everything away from you, the house, the money in the bank account, and they don't even allow you to attend the funeral, because legally you're not family and they have every right to do it so. Thats a true story by the way, and it happens a lot of times, do you think its fair ?
