I know he meant good, but sometimes the things he says makes him seem idiotic and that he completely disregard others who have different opinions of him.. I guess it's an old people thing. :air:

He's right though, there's a difference between enjoying a piece of music and recognising that it's good

Yes. Some people are really missing his point. Music is either well done or it's not and whether you enjoy it is a separate issue.

This, that's really what he is saying and you totally get it.

I don't agree with Mr. Bennett on this one, but I do agree with this:

Lady Gaga was singing for a highly skeptical audience. For one of the first times since she was a newcomer in the music industry, she had to prove herself. She had her reputation to lose (remember Carrie Underwood’s widely panned turn as Maria von Trapp?) if she did not approach the majesty of Julie Andrews in the eyes of millions of fiercely loyal Sound of Music fans across the globe. She did not have to risk this.

But she did.

Y'all who disagree with him are wrong :ohwell:

Someone talked already about good music VS music one enjoys. Tony is right.

Fact: a song is well made or not.

Opinion: you like the song or you don'tdon't

So he is right. :manicure:

That was sweet of him, but I completely disagree. Music touches people in different ways, there's no measure of goodness but something awful can be something breathtaking to another. I can think a song is a masterpiece but a friend could think it's the most annoying thing he's ever heard.

He's referring  to the technique and structure. Which is objective.

Exactly! He's referring to the arrangement and her vocal performance of the piece. And that's not a matter of opinion.

whether the performance moved you or not is an opinion
