ALX 170
Where are y'all hearing instrumentals?! could anyone direct me anywhere lol We have all of them but Florida Kilos, ITH and Flipside cuz it wasn't uploaded to Sony ATV https://www.dropbox.com/sh/kt5hu3ts6hfbb97/AABxWwqWof4_fyUUBV5pW68ya
ULTRARTPOP 0
Yeah that kinda bugged me. Lana reuses a lot of the same melodies that way Gaga does. It tends to happen when an artist writes their own songs. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. When does gaga do it?

Helix 1,485
I'm gonna go on a lil rant Ultraviolence definitely dabbles in the same themes, but I'm not all that surprised. But to say all the songs sound the same just seems so deluded to me?? And the fact I've seen SO many treat that as a straight up fact is just gross imo. And then to say it doesn't deserve any of the good scores its gotten Ya, maybe it isn't some groundbreaking new album, maybe it isn't some saving grace for all of music but it's by no means boring, or bad, and it definitely deserves the good scores it's been getting. Everyone seems to caught up in Born To Die and Paradise like jesus christ? That was 2 years ago? Stop rehashing that and discuss what we have happening now, and what that would be is Ultraviolence, not Born To Die: The Ultraviolence edition or something. Just Ultraviolence. Sorry

Sorry The main criticisms in BTD were she was unsure of who she was, the Lolita personality seemed contrived and the production was a little all over the place With UV she's doing the music she wants, it seems way more authentic and the production is very ambient. The people complaining are the ones that never liked her to begin with or fell in love with BTD and are pissed she's not rehashing the same sound for another album. If Paradise was any indication, she was already moving away from the trip-hop. I find it funny people lose their minds over Paradise but dislike UV. I personally think (over a year and a half later) Paradise is overrated in the fanbase
Essence 237
Honestly I found it boring :( and I HATE saying that about any form of music because it seems simply juvenile to say that I couldn't even give it my full attention, but I really couldn't None of the songs kept me very interested, unlike Born to Die. Even Paradise, which I wasn't crazy about, at least had me listening all the way through.

And honestly I'm glad she moved on from BTD. Ya it was great and it's a great album but it was smart to move on. I mean I guess at the end of the day, the important thing is I like Ultraviolence, so I shouldnt let myself be bothered by what others think

Like Sad Girl doesnt fully grasp me, and Old Money can get a little bleh at parts. I think those are the only two I have trouble with. The album overall kept me more interested than Paradise did actually... I was never crazy about that EP. Like Cola, Ride, and Gods & Monsters are probably the only ones I frequently still listen to. I'd still like to hear original versions of the tracks. I mean, apparently before Dan stepped in all the tracks were more classic 70s Rock N Roll or something, so that could have been interesting to hear. I was not interested in ANY of the tracks :( I was sad to find that West Coast remained my favorite and I didn't even like it that much. I just think the concept of the album is a little dry, just like the flow between the songs. There were no standout tracks for me, and even songs that I initially liked grew tiresome. For example I loved Brooklyn Baby for the first minute or so, and then I lost interest. I think Lana's music really suffers from the lack of hip hop influences that were seen on Born to Die, or at least, lack of concepts that can maintain interest. Personally the lack of hip-hop beats is something I enjoy 'cause after Paradise I was getting kind of bored of them. Although I do appreciate the hip-hop-ish beats of MPG, mainly because they aren't exactly the same as those used in BTD and whatnot. So far the concepts Lana sings about haven't started to bore me, I don't know if they will by her next album (That is if she uses the same concepts, which I hope she doesn't tbh)

I mean, apparently before Dan stepped in all the tracks were more classic 70s Rock N Roll or something, so that could have been interesting to hear. I think it might be the other way around. Almost all the songs would've been completed with Rick Nowels and sounded like the Black Beauty demo. I think the rock Auerbach brought in makes the album more interesting but some of the fills just lose me, like if I'm not seriously listening to the album my focus goes elsewhere as it plays on
