Is 1% or so economic growth worth ruining the environment? In my opinion it is not. The government's primary goal should be to make people happy, and economic growth is just instrumental. A good nature, clean air, good biodiversity and such are, however also instrumental and there should be no big priority between the two.. both are extremely important. Im not saying its worth it. But most ppl arent balanced when they are passionate about an issue and they go all fanatic and wont reason or compromise to anything some environmentalists sometimes make big deals about things that arent really a big deal when u look at the big picture. Some are also willing to go to the extreme of destryoing the economy entirally if it was up to them like pick ur battles, encourage change to green alternatives. But when u get these fanatic people standing in front of machines trying to stop them, or people that wont even be willing to discuss possible compromises to making some projects less damaging ti environment jlthey just wanna stop everything... well lets say that backfires because i cant take those people seriously. They come across and dumb, fanatic emotional and irrational. if i was a dictator, id love discussing things with environmentalists in a civilized mannor for ideas to minimize environmental impact. But honestly if they behaved irrational like many do now, id shut them out and not bother to even talk to them cause u cant reason with them some environmentalists are like religious fanatics. They dont even wanna discuss alternative options and for that i dont take them seriously. Thats not the way to fix social issues.
